PRAYER EMPHASIS - Building Block #5: Mighty Lord, You call us to childlike surrender to You. And You also call us to grow and mature in faith, into the likeness of Christ, Who died and rose to give all who believe in Him eternity with God. Help us, through the disciplines of discipleship--things like corporate worship, regularly partaking of Christ’s body and blood, studying Your Word, and serving others and praying in Christ’s Name--to grow as disciples and so be empowered to carry out Your mission for us in this world. In Jesus’ Name. Amen

LOVING LIFE LUTHERANS - Loving Life Lutherans – I love recommendations from others, and this event was recommended by Pastor Mark. On November 15, we’re planning an all day trip to Indianapolis. A Christian Theatre group will present a production of C.S. Lewis' 'The Great Divorce.' 'The Great Divorce' is a fantastic book, a fictional account of what happens at the intersection of heaven and hell. The play starts at 4:00 p.m. and runs 90 minutes without intermission. We received a fantastic group discount of $46 per ticket. We’ll meet at church around 11:00 and carpool to Indy, having lunch in Indy prior to the show. We already have 13 signed up, so if you are interested, I WILL NEED YOUR PAYMENT NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 1. Kim Moore has offered to collect payments if I’m not there or you can mail them to me. -Donna Tucker.
CHRISTIAN KNITWITS are planning on meeting Friday Sept. 5 at 1:00 at Nancy Wiech's house.
THANK YOU! - Thank you so very much for the cards, phone calls, prayers and acts of kindness since my accident in April. We are so very blessed being part of Living Water and His work in and through each and every one of us!
Blessings, Kim Moore
CAN YOU HELP? Nancy Wiech is in need of volunteers to drive her to therapy for her knee. She goes about twice a week. If you can help, please contact Nancy directly at 937-416-0851.
GETTING TO KNOW YOU DINNERS
As part of their work, the Living Water Board of Elders (Wayne Dawson, Carol Edwards, Gary Jackson, George Kellar, and Bob Lillie) will be hosting a set of Getting to Know You Dinners. Originally, the idea was to provide an opportunity for Pastor Daniels to get to know members of the congregation. That still will be happening. But the dinners will also be designed for smaller groups of Living Water members to get to know each other, to ask your questions of the pastor and the elders, to share your dreams for the congregation, give feedback, and to pray together for the church’s life and mission...all while enjoying a great meal and good fellowship!
The dinners will be happening on several Wednesday evenings in September, October, and November. Each dinner will involve about 25 households, approximately one-fifth of our membership each time. The start times will be 6:30 PM for all the dinners and the evening will conclude at 8:00.
The elders and those working with them will be calling you soon, and inviting you to one of the dinners. They will be trying to create rosters for each dinner composed of a cross-section of our congregation. Five different dinners are scheduled. A “make-up” dinner will also be scheduled for those unable to attend their dinner. We want to be sure everyone gets the chance to be at these events. Child care will be provided during the dinners. We hope you’ll be able to attend.
Has It REALLY Been 30 Years? - On Sunday, 19 October, we will be celebrating the fact that, in Pr. Mark’s words, God has put up with him for 30 years. In fact, this will be the 30th anniversary of Pr. Mark’s ordination! To help us glorify God for the gift of Pr. Mark, we will have one service on that Sunday, and will invite people from Pr. Mark’s previous congregations to join us. We will also have a guest speaker that day to deliver the message to us. Afterwards, we will have a carry-in lunch when we can all fellowship with each other. Details of the lunch will be provided soon.
In lieu of a gift for Pr. Mark, he has asked that we make a donation the North American Lutheran Seminary. If you would like to make a donation, please place a check in the offering made out to Living Water, but please note on the check that it is for the seminary donation. We’ll be collecting checks through the end of October, and will then send one check from Living Water to the seminary in Pr. Mark’s honor.
Please join us in telling Pr. Mark and Ann how happy we are that they answered God’s call to serve Living Water and are now an integral part of our Living Water family!
