Final ESEA Bill Released
Support the 21st Century Community Learning Centers
The Ask: Reach out to your Congressmen and ask them to support the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).
The Why: 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) is the only federal funding for after school, before school, or summer learning programs. The 21st CCLC program was maintained as an independent program in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), the compromise legislation to reauthorize ESEA. Preserving this dedicated funding stream means millions of students and families across the country - and over 26,000 young people in Georgia - will benefit from the quality afterschool and summer learning programs that keep kids safe, inspire them to learn and help working families.
ESSA is expected to be on the House floor for a vote this week and on the Senate floor next week.
The Message: Please support the Every Student Suceeds Act (ESSA). Authorizing ESSA will mean almost two million children - and over 26,000 in Georgia - will continue to have access to quality afterschool, before-school and summer learning programs provided by local school-community partnerships. Thank you for giving children priority as you represent Georgia in the U.S. Congress.
