Dear TAP Friends,
Five years ago, we set out to solve a problem. Small businesses, undercut by online commerce and big box stores, were closing left and right, and local shopping areas were suffering. At the same time, we knew a lot of community members with extensive experience in marketing, finance, and operations eager to put their skills to work. Our idea: why not match local businesses with highly-trained consultants to help all of them achieve their goals? The Acceleration Project (TAP) was born.
Fast-forward to 2016: TAP consultants have now provided strategic advice to more than 60 small businesses and have reached hundreds through their work with municipalities. Thanks to the support of our donors and the efforts of our team, small businesses get top-quality advice to which they would otherwise not have access. Just two of our success stories:
Rob Kissner — President of The Digital Arts Experience in White Plains, a digital education center for kids — needed to hit revenue targets to keep his business thriving. He requested help systematizing the approach to attracting more customers and to keep digital expertise in Westchester. TAP completed a detailed business analysis that helped him focus his efforts. Said Kissner, “The work they provided for me was outstanding.”
Ben Drew — Owner of Run on Hudson Valley in Croton — wanted to get the word out to the community about his store, but the demands of running a small business left him with little time to think about a marketing strategy. TAP created a targeted plan for him to build his customer base and helped him create a list of achievable sales goals. Said Drew, “I would definitely recommend TAP to another business.”
This year we were proud to be named “Outstanding Advocate for Small Business” by Westchester Magazine’s 914 Inc. business quarterly. We’re also proud that volunteering for TAP has helped our team members develop skills, advance careers, and improve their communities.
Our goal for 2017 is to increase the breadth and depth of our services and build the capacity for a long-term sustainable organization. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to help us revitalize small businesses. Click here to make a donation via PayPal.
Thank you for helping us tap the potential of professionals to accelerate small business growth!
