Hi <<First Name>>,

A new school year is here and we have a lot to catch up on!
Our prayers have been with the people in southern Haiti. The earthquake last month was devastating with more than 2200 people losing their lives. Our families were woken by the quake and felt it, but no damage was reported.  Although scary, we are grateful for God’s protection over our them.
Although there was no physical damage, the earthquake did create a food shortage and an increase in the price of food. It seems that everyone is buying food wherever they can and taking it south to victims of the earthquake. Which we completely understand but it affects us all. We are currently trying to work with an increased budget of $2,000 a month for food. For now, we will be providing rice and beans at lunch for the students as we cannot get all the food we need.
Haiti has gone through so much in the last few years. After President Moise’s assassination the country stands without a president and elections have been postponed due to the earthquake. Gang violence has been in full swing, but it seems that a truce has been called to allow for efforts to continue in earthquake aide. We need God’s peace over the country of Haiti.  And, there are ways that WE can help TODAY!
As you may recall, the value of the US Dollar went down in Haiti almost one year ago, which affected the operations of many nonprofit organizations, including Grace and Glory. Our budget nearly doubled! We are happy to say the value of the US Dollar continues to rise and is almost back to a manageable place but it left us in dire need to get caught up again.
We need YOUR additional support for this school year!
Our Annual Amazing Race fundraiser raised the funds needed to buy books for the school year and then some! Thank you!  And now, we need YOU to help us on a huge fundraising effort!  We need to raise $55,000 to keep operating this year. And I know we can do it through your generous giving!
We currently have 75 students sponsored out of 300, which provides $2100 per month. Along with other monthly donors and unexpected donations we generally hit $3000 per month. But, that leaves us $3,000 short! Yes, our monthly budget is $6000 per month. That provides the basics such as staff salaries, and food.
To keep our school open and operating this
year we need to raise $55,000!

This will cover: basic necessities, food, salaries for our teachers and staff, emergency maintenance and uniforms for the students. Normally we provide one uniform each year and the kids are starting off the school year with their uniforms from last year.
The lives of our children are being transformed each day they step inside our building.  Last year we had our first 9th grade class and 13 of 16 students passed the government exam. We celebrate this accomplishment for our first year with 9th grade. We want to continue to see and experience these glory sightings.  Raising this $55,000 will ensure we do just that!
In May, you collected supplies, medicine, medical equipment, and sponsor gifts.  While we are still unable to travel, we sent our first ever shipment to Haiti! These blessings were received by the start of school year! Thank you!
Again, thank you for ALL the ways you contribute to the lives of our students and families in Haiti.  I will leave you with a word of thanks!
