Dear <<First Name>>,
On August 27th, the Ministry of National Education in Haiti pushed the beginning of the school year from September 5th to October 3rd. While no direct reason was given, it is rumored that this is in response to the economic crisis that Haiti is currently experiencing.
If you were planning on writing to your sponsored student, you have more time to do so now. Plans to travel to Haiti and deliver school supplies and letters will not be pushed back, so please consider sending letters before the end of October.
What does this mean for Grace & Glory Academy?
Haitian Times reporter, Onz Chéry, tweeted that "Residents have been lamenting about not being able to pay for their children's tuitions" and while Grace & Glory Academy is tuition-free for our students, it is not unscathed from this economic crisis that the world is experiencing at its' current moment. For our students and their families, a 29% increase in inflation hits home. As an organization, we are trying to raise funds to combat this downfall and ensure our students have a safe and secure place to learn amidst the struggle.
Our students will return to school on October 3rd like the rest of the nation of Haiti. The ministry of education hopes that this will not negatively impact their overall education for the academic school year. We want to ensure that it doesn't.
Would you consider donating $10 today to help Grace & Glory Academy remain open and ready to welcome our students on October 3rd?
