Yoga Practitioners' Potluck
Eighteen yoga practitioners enjoyed an impressive selection of vegan dishes at the May Yoga Practitioners' Potluck. The spread included sauteed asparagus, steamed broccoli with mustard sauce, cucumber and watermelon salad, stuffed grape leaves, potato gnocci with veggies and a cashew cream sauce, lentil loaf with a sweet and tangy tomato glaze, freshly baked bread, fresh fruit, herbal iced tea, lemon-vanilla energy bites, chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies, strawberry-filled puff pastries, and almond & spice chia seed pudding. Everyone left with a full belly and a to-go container for further nourishment and enjoyment!

Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga @ UNLV:
It was both a joy and an honor to spend the last four months teaching an introductory yoga course to 74 students at UNLV! I'm grateful for the opportunity to give the gift of self-led yoga practice to an exceptional group of students, and I believe that yoga practice with help them to stay steady during college and in life after graduation. See the bottom of this message for some photos I took during the last week of class!
-There is still time to sign up for PEX 169 at UNLV during the Summer II session, which begins on 6/10. It's a condensed 15-hour version of the 30-hour program.
-I'm teaching three sections of the 30-hour course in the Fall 2019 semester, one of which already has a waiting list.
-See the University website for details.

June 2019: "Deepening Your Practice" 100-hour Yoga Intensive
Spend weekends in June expanding and deepening your personal practice of yoga. Join Jeremy and I for instruction and practice in postures, breathing exercises, mantra meditation and Sanskrit chanting, fresh vegan meals that feature homegrown organic produce, a philosophy lecture series and talks on yoga history and Indian mythology. This intensive yoga program is open to students who have some prior experience with yoga and who are interested in using yoga as a tool for self-development. All the details are on the Desert Yoga School website.

July 2019: "Basic Yoga Teaching" 100-hour Yoga Intensive
Students who have already attended the Desert Yoga School "Deepening Your Practice" program are eligible to enroll in the "Basic Yoga Teaching" intensive course, which will occur during weekends in July. Plenty of practice is included--asana, pranayama, and mantra japa--but the course emphasis is on sharing yoga with others. Observe and assist with asana instruction, practice hands-on adjustments, learn how to assess students and adjust accordingly, learn Sanskrit posture names, study the anatomy of the human muscular and skeletal systems, and more. The two programs--"Deepening Your Practice" and "Basic Yoga Teaching"--together form the coursework for Desert Yoga School's 200-hour Teacher Training Program. See the Desert Yoga School website for details.

August-September 2019:
30-hour "Subtle Body" Advanced Teacher Training Module for YogaWorks

Jeremy and I will be teaching a module of the YogaWorks 300-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training that will be led by Jennifer Pierotti later this year. Details are on the YogaWorks website.

This week's baskets contained kale, collards, chard, spinach, sorrel, dandelion greens, purslane, thyme, fennel, oregano, parsley, sage, garlic, lemon verbena and coriander! Contact us for details.
Non-traditional students in the introductory course at UNLV include professors and graduate students--discerning professionals who push me to continually improve as an instructor.
