Did You Know - Hints, Tips, News
Did you know the APAC Learning Impact Awards (ALIA) have 10 award categories that L&D professionals can submit for?
Learning Professional of the Year
Learning Solution of the Year – Internal
L&D Rising Star
Learning Consultant of the Year
Learning Provider of the Year
L&D Team Excellence Award
Learning Solution of the Year – External
Onboarding Solution of the Year
Diversity & Inclusion Learning Initiative
Lifetime Achievement Award.
Receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award is probably the pinnacle of recognition for any L&D professional and it is not awarded lightly. In fact, it has only been awarded three times, and is not always given out - there was no award in 2020.
It goes beyond recognising the person's career or business achievements and looks at the whole person, their contribution to the L&D industry and community, and their body of work in L&D. It cannot be applied for, but a person can be nominated, and the decision to award it is a highpoint for ILP and our community. Join us tomorrow evening to see if it is awarded this year.
When is a good time to consider submitting for an award?
You probably know the answer, but we'll tell you anyway. The time is start thinking about a 2022 ALIA is today! Being recognised for your achievements by your peers is not a single event, it is the constant striving you do with passion.
Stay connected every Friday
10:00-11:00am Syd/Melb We had a full room at last Friday's L&D Lounge with some new members, and once again it was an hour of valuable and enjoyable interaction. Join us soon.

There are no risks being an L&D Professional! Or is there?
This is an important event for L&D professionals as we explore the risks of being in our industry. Our In-house Counsel and Insurance adviser will guide us through the murky waters.
Winning ‘Learning Professional of the Year’ award has made me and the entire team at PROfound Leadership incredibly proud. The award highlights our achievements, elevated my status, boosted our company’s reputation, increased our visibility, and helped to reinforce the credibility of our brand.

Brisbane Social Meetup
Brisbane is lucky enough not to be in lockdown, and we hope it stays that way, so the social gathering they have on 19 October goes ahead.
Our Strategic Partners
A very important part of our ILP are our strategic partners, and we have recently been joined by Open LMS and we should be announcing a couple more next week. If you haven't checked them out recently you can do so here. Many of them have special offers for ILP members, and they also run some valuable events. For example:
CCS Cards - has regular events ILP members will be interested in, and we're proud to have them as the Sponsoring Partner for the Diversity & Inclusion Initiative ALIA award.
Our thanks to all our strategic partners, which we will continue to feature in upcoming updates,
Starting and running a successful L&D business takes more than great material and professional facilitation skills. A lot more.
As many of our members who have been in business for a while can tell you that when you have your own business, particularly at start-up, you will not be working a 40 hour week, with regular hours. You will be the designer, salesperson, bookkeeper, facilitator, travel agent, technology guru, and social media expert, and cleaner. That is why Business Smarts is so one dimension in the L&D Capability Framework.
