From 2014 into 2015 - Zoom!
Freedom to Learn

First of all...
Happy New Year :-) We sincerely hope you all have plenty of luck and more peace in 2015. Big thank yous to everyone for a fab amount of support to FtL and all the partners and fabulous children we work with!

Second of all...

Alongside our trusted and hard-working partners SPACE, Care Himlayan Region and the Himalayan Buddhist Cultural School, in 2014 we have worked in 15 schools with a truly holistic approach to education. Helped acquire teaching staff (English and I.T.),  essential materials such as stationery, uniform, food, beds, computers, bikes, clean drinking water and more. With the Act on Education Programme we are currently piloting our newly developed government school resource "Creative Community Building" with the support of the Ministry of Education and ERSF.

From our careful monitoring and evaluation of the project work in 2014 we know that the work of the volunteers, staff and creative children has achieved excellent results.......

You want to see what the team has achieved in 2014? We won't bore you with lots of writing - just take a look...!
              ......drums please......

Increased student attendance in all the supported schools

Parents are more involved and are valuing their children’s education

Children are experiencing less violence in school and the home

Effective local and national advocacy for changes in education

Community engagement valuing schools as a hub of the local community

Dialogue with stakeholders who can make key changes on a regular basis

More girls attending school

More children with school uniform

More children riding bikes to school halving their journey time

Better School Morale!

The most important thing about these changes? Not just that they are real, and make positive differences to over a thousand young students - but that they are student led.Students who are vulnerable children living well below the poverty line, who have gained confidence in their ideas and have learned effective advocacy skills on the Act on Education Programme. With local NGO's, FtL facilitators, community and national leaders together they devise solutions that work, that have worked and that are working right now with positive results.

Bring on 2015!

Thank you again to all our supporters, without you, well, none of the above...
Best wishes,
The FtL Team
