Mexico is a country of striking contrasts: rich/poor, rural/urban, Spanish/indigenous, modern and colonial. During our journey here, you will explore these contrasts and the remarkable photographic stories that emerge. In partnership with truth and beauty, Travelteerism is proud to offer a 10 day initiative for investigative photographers who want to develop their skills as visual storytellers while also making a positive impact on the world through volunteerism. Our unique program presents a hands-on opportunity for field-based documentary photography, coupled with meaningful ways to give back while abroad. Under the supervision of a professional photographer, attendees are able to create narrative portfolios, and gain valuable experience partnering with local communities and NGOs. This is a unique opportunity to create a body of work suitable for submission to international portfolio reviews and exhibitions. Prior to departure, an instructional session will be held on essay themes such as social documentary, street photography, diary and photojournalism. Photographs from the trip will be displayed at the gallery and on the web here.
Program capacity is limited. Desired equipment and technical proficiency of your camera is required.
