Upgrade to Windows 10

new look, new browser

Microsoft says it's the best windows yet and we agree. Matthew and I recently upgraded to Windows 10, following a Microsoft product launch hosted by the Toowoomba IT Community group.

Key features:
  1. Microsoft has reinstalled the Start Menu in Windows 10 and added a few clever tricks.
  2. Cortana, Microsoft’s personal digital assistant, will appeal to those of you will regularly use Siri or Google Now.
  3. Touch, type, write or speak - the choice is yours. You can use whatever works best for what you’re doing.
  4. Continuum, the new operating system, enables you to switch the interface between the PC-friendly desktop and a Windows 8-like mode that’s better suited for fingers, depending on how you’re using the device.
  5. Windows 10’s new browser, Microsoft Edge, enables you to write, type or even use your fingertips to draw directly on pages and share them with others.
Verdict: We are very happy with the product so far. It has lots of similarities to Windows 7 and includes usability features over Windows 8. It performs very well on modern hardware. It has more built-in security.

Upgrade for Free: Microsoft is making Windows 10 available as a free upgrade for qualified and genuine Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 devices. You have until July 29, 2016 to take advantage of this free upgrade offer. Contact us for more information.

Talk to us: Please talk to us before upgrading to Windows 10. It’s a great product, but it will not be an option in certain business environments. We can perform a compatibility audit and determine which version of Windows is best for your business.

Lessons learned migrating to Xero

Don't skip the training!: Migrating to a new business system can be a complicated, risky and expensive process if not done properly. In the latest episode of the Small Business Technology Show, Ben Love and I discuss a real-life migration from Reckon Accounting (Quickbooks) to Xero and learn some simple techniques to help make your next project a success.

Don't let fear hold you back

Creativity is key: It was inspiring to hear Todd Sampson speak at the Innovation, Leadership & Strategy Summit in Toowoomba during the week.
The ABC host and advertising guru spoke about the power of creativity to drive competitive advantage in business, climbing Mt Everest and conquering your fears.
Todd also referred to his documentary 'Redesign My Brain', which proved that we can all improve the brains that we were born with... phew!
Well done to the organisers for attracting such high calibre speakers.
