We boarded the Peace Dive Boat in the evening of June 14th, dreaming of visiting our baby sea lion friends as we laid down in our bunks. They would be one month older now. We woke up bright and early in the morning to see the beautiful Santa Barbara Island in the morning light. We were going diving at our favorite island on our favorite dive boat!
The water was blue and the visibility was amazing. As usual we had divers of diverse experience levels and interests. We were very happy to see that the giant kelp forest is making a comeback around the island. During the dives we were visited by the playful sea lions. They showed off their agility by swimming around us in circles and doing somersaults. A couple of them were seen nibbling on divers' fins and the anchor line. After the dives, some of us relaxed in the famous Peace hot tub while others sat together and compared notes on what they saw on their dives. It was another beautiful dive day.
We Kicked off our New Underwater Photo Seminar!
Last month’s photo seminar series was a huge success! If you missed it, you’ll definitely want to join the course offering in July! The series is taught by our resident pro photographer, Mike Brock, and it consists of a classroom seminar, pool workshop, and openwater field seminar. In the classroom, we will cover ways to optimize your camera settings and accessories. Mike will discuss tips and tricks that even experienced photographers might have never known! Then, you’ll practice the settings in the pool so you understand how to get the shots you’ve always wanted to capture. Finally, our professional teacher will lead a private group of divers openwater to try out their newfound knowledge and skills underwater. You can sign up for individual sessions or all three.
The next seminar is July 7, with pool workshop on July 13 and field seminar on July 14.
Let's Go Freediving!!!
We will hold a professional level freediving certification course taught by industry-renowned, freediving champion Seamus Callaghan over the Labor Day weekend. Whether you are just interested but never tried before, or have been freediving for years, we have classes to improve your skills. The techniques learned in our courses translate to scuba diving as well, so even if you don't want to be a spearfishing champion, you'll definitely become a better scuba diver!

The next Freediving Level 1 and Level 2 Certification Course is scheduled for the Labor Day weekend, August 31 to September 2. We also have basic freediving workshops on July 11 and 18. In these workshops we will cover some fundamental freediving skills, which are not covered in the pro freediving course.

Cortes Bank & San Clemente - July 20 & 21, 2019
Act fast! There are only a few more spots left for this trip.

Once again we are chartering Horizon for an exciting two-day dive expedition to Cortes Banks and San Clemente Island. Cortes Bank is a shallow seamount located off the coast of Southern California. It is 96 miles southwest of San Pedro, 111 miles west of San Diego, and 47 miles from San Clemente Island. Yep, it is almost Mexico! Diving at Cortes Bank can be spectacular, but since there is no island or other land mass to shelter you from the current and wind, it is only open to divers with advanced skills. You must have excellent buoyancy control and you need to be ready to handle sudden changes in conditions.

Sail away with us on this boat for a one-of-a-kind nautical experience and take away unforgettable memories!
