It was bittersweet saying goodbye to the friends I’ve made during the year. We all worked together really well and have seen each other grow more like Christ.
During our time in the mountain city I was more aware of the spiritual atmosphere than ever before. At the beginning I could feel that there was an oppressive works-based religion stronghold over the city. Everyone there believes there is a God, but only a few people truly desire to have a relationship with Him. There is also a power/fear dynamic that scares people into doing what they think is right. But God is doing something great in this city. He brought a team of 4 people who love God and want his glory to be spread throughout the city, and He will continue to work now.
Our team goal was to regularly pray and worship over the city. During our three months there we would pray corporately 3 times a week, do Bible study, and worship over the city. While we did this I could feel bonds being broken in the spiritual atmosphere, and the Holy Spirit gave insight on how to pray for the city. We prayed that peace would come and that forgiveness among families would happen. While we were praying I could feel the light overcoming the darkness. When we left I could sense that there were gaps in the oppressive atmosphere, so the truth of Jesus could come in.
My team and I led multiple Bible studies with locals. They seemed to be interested in the stories of Jesus we shared with them and wanted to hear more about Him. When asked who they think Jesus is they said that he was only a prophet. Please pray for one particular family who we became close to, that they would continue to search for truth in Jesus. I truly love this family and would love it if they experience the freedom Christ offers.
We also met believers during our time that almost had their house blown up because of their faith in Jesus. The father of the Christian family never talked about himself, he only talked about Jesus, and would tell us stories of the New Testament. We shared encouraging stories with each other and ate together. There are not many believers in this town so they were delighted to meet with us.
Many tears were shed when we left the mountain city. At the camp where we taught English, they kept asking us to stay longer and teach more classes. Our beloved friends wanted us to stay our last night at their house. I miss them dearly and as I’m writing this, I pray I get to see them again in the near future.
My first stop after my 3-month outreach in the mountain city was the training base in Greece. There we had a time of debrief with everyone who had been on different outreaches, then graduation. Next was a week-long vacation in Crete with some of my classmates. Last stop before returning to the States is some time in Turkey to connect with contacts and also have a slower time of travel with one of my roommates. I am currently traveling in Turkey. If you could, please pray that God directs my steps and puts the right people in my path. My heart is drawn here for a purpose that is bigger than myself.
While I’m in the States I plan on visiting friends and family and continuing to listen to the Holy Spirit for my next steps. I will be back October 4th and will be living with my mom. I do not plan on staying in the States for long because I believe God has something for me elsewhere. I feel like God will reveal more to me once I am in the States on where to go and when. I do not feel released to live in Turkey full-time at this moment. I would like to go with a team or join a team. I might work with the organization I've been with in Greece or somewhere else. The base in Greece would definitely keep me moving forward and growing me as a leader.

Everywhere I go I have implemented what I have learned during the training school. I am comfortable praying for people I have just met and talking with them about what God is doing in my life. It’s so easy to talk about Jesus now and I feel like the fear that I had last year has left. I have this tug to tell people the truth I have found. I don’t feel pressured to tell people, but it is a delight that is within me that I want to share.

  • I am so thankful that God shows me how easy it is to share about Himself.
  • God is changing the Mountain city through the one Christian family we met. They are distributing Bibles and sharing stories about Jesus.
  • God healed a little girl from stomach issues.
  • We gave out Bibles to our dear friends
  • The atmosphere change from fear to freedom
  • Deep friendships were made
Prayer Requests:
  • Please pray with me for direction and timing to move from the United States permanently
  • My friends in the Mountain City that have read the Bible. My prayer for them is to keep desiring the truth of God. I also hope to see them again in the near future.
Thank you all so much for you continued prayers and support!
