Use Big Data and Big Asking

Companies gather and use "big data" to gain personal insight and get to know their audiences... and we all use that gathered information in our daily lives (for instance, I no longer get lost while driving in an unknown city).

But having this awesome data is not an excuse to outsource your relationships with clients, customers and employees. Gain personal insight using experience, observation and The Asking Formula – paired with big data – for a successful outcome.

Watch to learn how.
As part of my role in the Department of Defense Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program, I have had the honor to speak in front of thousands of Armed Forces veterans for nearly 7 years. These military men and women come together to understand how to transition from active duty (many from multiple deployments) to living productive, civilian lives. It is one of the most gratifying things I do.

This transition is not easy: neither to the veteran nor to his or her family. It is a special kind of hero to serve our country as soldiers, sailors and airmen as these folks have done. To commit to the hard task of reintegrating to the role of – husband or wife – dad or mom – son or daughter – takes equal amounts of grit and commitment. We owe them a lot.

I am often asked how to demonstrate support to our military vets and families. The simplest gesture is often the most welcomed: as you travel over Thanksgiving and upcoming holidays and see someone in uniform (at the airport, mall, etc.), simply tell them that you appreciate the sacrifices they make and thank them for their service. A quick salute or a handshake. This heartfelt gesture goes a long way and will be deeply appreciated.
