Curtin University students visit the Goldfields

During June, 20 students from Curtin University’s Faculty of Business and Law visited Kalgoorlie-Boulder for an immersion experience.

International travel restrictions meant students could no longer travel to Dubai.

Kalgoorlie-Boulder was chosen as a regional city that is economically thriving with lots of employment opportunities for future graduates.

The GEDC provided local introductions for the visit, which included meetings with business and industry reps from the Goldfields CME, Bega Indigenous Health Services, BHP Nickel West and a range of SMEs, arts and cultural organisations.

Students also participated in a range of local Aboriginal experiences and sightseeing tours.

GEDC staff presented to students about current economic issues and opportunities in the region and the range of work opportunities available.

Students were enthusiastic about the breadth and variety of work available and the value it represented to the state and global economy.
