A Massive Thank You to Kay
Over the last 20 years, Kay Brown from Waikanae Gymnastics has made it possible for hundreds of youth coaches from the Wellington region to be nurtured through the CIT/XTND programme.  As the regional coordinator, she has spent many of her own hours inspiring, encouraging and recruiting new generations of coaches.

"I enjoyed every minute of it - those delightful young people taught me a lot!"

We thank Kay hugely for her considerable contribution to coach training and wish her all the best as she leaves the role to do some traveling with her husband and spend more time with family.
Gymsports at the Halbergs
The 53rd Annual Halberg Awards were held at Vector Arena on Thursday 18th February.  Named after Olympic champion Sir Murray Halberg (ONZ) the Awards is the country's pre-eminent event to honour and celebrate New Zealand's sporting excellence.

More than 800 people attended the black tie event, one of whom was our very own Dylan Schmidt from Extreme Trampoline, as one of four finalists for the SKY NEXT Emerging Talent Award.  To be recognised alongside the likes of Athletic's new junior record holder Eliza McCartney and Tall Black Tai Wynyard, signed by US college basketball heavyweights Kentucky, is indeed a just testament to Dylan's sporting achievements last year and the clear potential that he shows as a senior athlete.

Dylan is off to the Olympic Test Event in Rio in April, for a second chance to qualify NZ's first trampoline spot at the Rio Olympics.  We wish Dylan all the best in his training, travels and competitions this year.
