Virtually 70% of high level gymnasts have experienced psychological blocking – the inability to perform a skill previously performed with ease. Aerobics Qualifying Event
GymSports New Zealand held the first ever sanctioned Aerobics qualifying event in Christchurch, Sunday July, 12.
The Chistchurch School of Gymnastics (CSG) Aerobic Classic Competition was held  at Avonside Girls High School, and hosted athletes from Alexandra, Invercargill, Rimutaka and CSG.  All in all there were over 25 athletes across both Steps and ADP, with athletes competing as individuals, Pairs and one trio.

The day started with heats and then after a lunch break the finals were held with all athletes getting the chance to repeat their routines.
The aim for many athletes at this competition was to gain a qualifying score going towards the two required for selection to represent their province, at the 2015 New Zealand National Gymsports Championships this year. There was success for many athletes and the medals were split across the competing clubs represented. Many of Canterbury’s Christchurch School of Gymnastic (CSG) athletes also achieved their 2nd qualifying score so for the first time Canterbury will have an Aerobics team this year at Nationals.
â€¨A special thanks to the Judging Panel that travelled from Alexandra and Auckland and made this competition possible.  Big thanks also to the CSG Aerobic Parents who donated food, time and helped with fundraising events. This event marked a milestone for Aerobics in Canterbury, something the province will hopefully build upon. Results can be found
HERE.
