Monumentality and lightness:  France in mosaics

October 3 - November 8, 2015

Curated by Rosetta Berardi and Linda Kniffitz

Palazzo Rasponi di Ravenna, entrance via Luca Longhi, 9
Visiting hours: daily 10:00a.m. - 6:00p.m.

The spaces in the atrium of the Palazzo Rasponi accommodate the complex works of three famous French artists, Joël Barguil, Gérard Brand, Valerie Colombel, who express themselves with monumental, but at the same time, transparent and light mosaic works. An ambivalence which dissolves into a subtle and emotional balance.

Luca Barberini

Storie su cittadini al di sopra di ogni sospetto

October 10 - 31, 2015
Opening Sunday October 11, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.

niArt Gallery - Via Anastagi, 4a/6, Ravenna

Presented by Felice Nittolo - Curated by Daniele Torcellini - Produced by Marte Associazione Culturale in collaboration with niArt Gallery with the support of Ravenna Municipality Department of Culture

Luca Barberini will inaugurate his first personal exhibition - Storie su Cittadini al di Sopra di Ogni Sospetto. It is curated by Daniele Torcellini at the NiArt Gallery, with a presentation by Felice Nittolo on October 11 at 6:00 pm, as part of the International Contemporary Mosaic Festival. Luca Barberini’s works, bordering on pop-surrealism, portray the dramas, psychodramas, perversions and routines of our society, with both collective dimensions and driven individualism. His incisive multicoloured and unrestrained expression has reduced mosaic art to a handful of tesserae, placed with the urgency of improvisation. This exhibition is part of the project O(Ax)=dO(Am) - Equazione Impossibile. It was curated by Marte Associazione Culturale, which also hosted two collective shows in 2011 and 2013 where mosaic artists and artists of other mediums exchanged cultures and ideas. In 2015, this project evolved to concentrate on some of the most interesting artistic explorations with roots in the mosaic language. Two individual exhibitions, Luca Barberini and CaCO3, launch a journey into the variety of possibilities that mosaic art offers today, underlining the vitality of an expressive art that never ceases to surprise.

October 11 - November 8, 2015

Opening Sunday October 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.

Edizioni del Girasole – via G. Pasolini 45 – Ravenna - Italy
Hours of operation: 10:00 a.m. - 12:30, 4:00-6:00 p.m. Monday - Saturday; Sunday and holidays closed.

After the success of the previous editions of Bibliomosaico, hosted in Paray-le-Monial (France) July 2010, in Chartres (France) October 2012, in Riga (Latvia) June 2014, and in Obernai (France) August 2015, the review of the artist's books is back in its original venue with the same characteristics but with new works.

The exhibition Bibliomosaico was conceived by Rosetta Berardi in 2009 during the International Festival of Contemporary Mosaic RavennaMosaico; a thematic exhibition originated with the intention of stimulating mosaicists to think about the shape of a book meant to be the representation of a “book object”. That is the creation of a book which creates a desire to look at it but not to read it, a kind of  “not a book”, a “book object”, a book which, although it has lost its content of words, has gained its own specific conceptual meaning of an open work with which the artist can create new forms. So it is not a question of a book that becomes a work of art but rather a work of art that suggests a book.

The works, made for the space that houses the Edizioni del Girasole, will be exhibited among the actual paper books.
