Happy Spring and Happy Easter!

 Festival
OPERE DAL MONDO

Following the success of the 2009 first edition of the International Festival of Contemporary Mosaico, the Municipality of Ravenna in collaboration with the AIMC, has presented the RavennaMosaico Festival every two years.

Through this collaboration Ravenna, whose excellence emanates from its early Christian and Byzantine mosaics and is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage City, promotes contemporary mosaic by presenting its mosaic artists in juxtaposition with artists from other countries.

This collaboration between Ravenna and the AIMC - International Association of Contemporary Mosaicists, comes to fruition when artists arrive from around the world. Included in the rich program of the RavennaMosaico Festival, is the exhibition/competition OPERE DAL MONDO - Works from the World -  reserved for AIMC members.  It is a great opportunity for both the exposition of contemporary mosaic and a space for reflection on mosaic techniques used today.

PREMIO INTERNAZIONALE GAEM - GIOVANI ARTISTI E MOSAICO

The  Art Museum  of the City of Ravenna  announces the Fourth Edition of the International  Prize GAeM - Young Artists and Mosaic. The prize aims at promoting contemporary  mosaic, both in its expressions linked to the historical tradition, and in the most innovative and experimental aspects. The  prize,  projected  by  the  Art Museum  of  the  City  of  Ravenna  -  International  Centre  for  the Documentation  of Mosaic  (MAR-CIDM),  is  sponsored  by  the  Ravenna  Province  and  the  Region Emilia Romagna. The competition will award mosaic materials, prize money and an artist residence, the mounting of an important collective exhibition organized by the Art Museum of the City of Ravenna and the publication in an art-catalogue of the selected artworks. After the closing of the exhibition in Ravenna, it will be moved to Villa Paris, at Roseto degli Abruzzi, exhibition venue of the firm Cingoli Consolidamento e Restauro, among the supporters of the event. The International  Prize  GAeM  - Young  Artists  and Mosaic  is a free  subject  competition,  but the artists are asked to develop a research which is consistent with the constitutive, formal and poetic principles of the mosaic language.

DOMO

FRAGMENT

EXHIBITION- SYMPOSIUM
Call for Applications

DOMO e.V. proudly announces a call for applications to the juried Mosaic Exhibition 'Fragment' as a part of the 2nd Mosaic Symposium 'Die Teile und das Ganze’ (The Parts and the Whole) in Pfaffenhofen, Germany.

Historically, a fragment is incomplete. It is the remainder, a part of the whole, a 'non-finito'. One never intends to show only a part of a work. Yet, this is exactly the point that our exhibition ‘Fragment’ seeks to address.

In modern art, fragments - detached from the whole - act as artwork by themselves. To omit and to reduce requires particular skill and dynamics. A fragment can shed light on the artist's creativity and thought process to a greater extent than a completed work. There may be even more room for the viewer's interpretation. A fragment leads us back to the origins of a finished piece. Consummation lies in the eye of the beholder. The viewer must gather the missing pieces, adding their own interpretation in order to complete the work.
The participating artists should deal with these processes of omission and reduction.
