Spring has arrived and that means the annual spring fair is coming soon.  Below are a few highlights from the cooler months behind us.

Kindergarten celebrates 30 years

Thirty years ago the Motueka Rudolf Steiner Kindergarten came into being.  It started in the living room of our founding teacher, Yvonne Vincent, moved to Pioneer Hall, then to its current location at Wallace Street.  The school community and supporters celebrated with a barn dance at Riverside Community Hall.  See the full story and photos here.

Spring Fair is coming September 21st

There are several unique features about our school Spring fair.  It is child and family focused with plenty of games and activities for children.  The adults dress-up and get involved in the fun and games.  All the stalls and activities are made and staffed by parents and supporters.  You won't see these attractions anywhere else. Check out our Facebook Event page for more details.

Building a willow wall

The forest may be gone but nature and beauty are returning.  Children, parents and teachers enjoyed a day of creativity building a willow wall to screen the driveway.  The wall has beautiful organic shapes and acts as a screen between the field and the driveway.  The project was organised by Tanja, and landscape architect Guy Redmond taught us the skills.  The willow will sprout into life in spring and we will have a living wall.  See here for more images.

Adult education

The day was a Sunday, the children were away, but 23 adults came to learn.  The Art of Waldorf Education was a series of workshops for teachers, parents and anyone interested in the topic.  Read more.

Open days well attended.

Recently the school held an open day for parents coming into Class One next year.  The Kindergarten also had an open day for parents with younger children.  Both events were well attended, and we hope this reflects a growing interest in Steiner Education.  Dates for future open days will be posted in the Upcoming Events blog on our website.  See more.

Visiting Architect introduces Consensus Design

We had the pleasure of hosting Matthew ter Borg for three days last week.  Matthew is a Wellington based Architect who specialises in Consensus Design which he presented to a community meeting.  We were interested to see examples from other New Zealand Steiner schools.   Read about his visit here.
