The Ideas of March!

It’s mid-March and we are overdue to send you some updates on what’s new, what’s been here, and what’s coming.

We were recently given a huge stockpile of AREA back issues and we are selling them at a reduced price. Founded in 2005, AREA Chicago supports the work of people and organizations building a socially just city. The newspapers AREA produced are a goldmine of writings by Chicago’s most brilliant political artists, teachers, organizers and activists and each thematic issue is extraordinarily rich with great writings, conversations, maps, graphics and more. You probably won’t find these anywhere else and once these are gone, we won’t be getting more so stock up! Check out AREA’s online archive.

Our Artist Publisher discussion forum was recently featured in ArtNews and new people are signing up to participate every day. If there’s an idea you are burning to share, a publication you want people to know about, a printing problem you can’t solve on your own, or some other topic related to artist books and ‘zines that needs broadcasting, please have a look at the forum, sign up, and post away!
If you happen to visit Puebla, Mexico, we have a bookstore for you: Más Allá. This shop recently acquired lots of our publications. If you have a shop in Mexico or anywhere else and want to do the same, drop us a line and we’ll set you up with a wholesale account. It’s easy and you can order as many or as few copies of our titles as you like.
For the second year, we’ll be participating in Chicago’s new Photo-centric book fair Foto Mercado at Ace Hotel. This was a great event last year with lots of sharp photo books and ‘zines, killer DJs, and a chill atmosphere. We’ll shift the focus of our table to match the themes of the fair so if there’s something of ours you’ve been looking for with photos in it and you are in Chicago, stop on by.
That’s all for now. As always thanks for reading and supporting!
