The CSO is back and has announced 3 finalists for the Concerto Competition for Concordia Fellows and everyone is welcome to attend their competition on April 30th!

Speak Science Simply is a program that was created to combat the misinformation that we come across online every day, and aims to give its participants the tools to break through the chatter, and raise awareness of the value of science and to take control of scientific narratives. Speak Science Simply
Speak Science Simply is an outreach program that aims to provide individuals involved in science and research with the skills and confidence to communicate effectively and share their work with the general public. The program is open to the public, including interested participants from across scientific fields. The modules have been designed and will be delivered by a multidisciplinary team of leaders from across Concordia University of Edmonton and experts in communication, including Take Roots Consulting.
 
To communicate effectively, the scientific community must ensure messaging is tailored to its audiences, delivering the right message, on the right platform, at the right time. Speak Science Simply has been designed to be applicable across fields and, through eight engaging courses, will provide the foundation and skills needed to connect with government, industry, and the community.

This program is open to all and has no prerequisites. The courses are independent and are not required to be taken sequentially.

National Poetry Month Event 
In celebration of National Poetry Month, the Office of Extension and Culture would like to invite everyone to join us for an exciting opportunity to listen to a selection of poems from around the world at our special event, “Tapestry: A Celebration of World Poetry”.

CSO Concerto Competition for Concordia Fellows
The CSO is pleased to announce the three finalists of the CSO Concerto Competition: Amber Campbell (clarinet), Allan Nelson (violin), and Stephanie Wong (oboe).

The finalists will perform live on Saturday, April 30 starting at 9:30 a.m. in Tegler Centre to compete for a chance to play as a soloist with the orchestra in the 2022-2023 season. The winner will be announced on the same day. 

This is a free event and everyone is welcome to attend.

Who We Are
Meet Jamie Myers-Riczu, instructor of the X-MUE 01 Classical Music Appreciation and X-MUE 03 Introduction to Popular Music courses!
 
Jamie Meyers-Riczu is a researcher and instructor currently based in Edmonton, Alberta. She recently graduated with her PhD from the University of Alberta with a dissertation on Romantic-era expressions of heroic masculinity and creative genius in Liszt's symphonic poems. When she isn't learning about Liszt, Jamie appeals to her prairie roots and explores female arts patronage in early Prairie settlements. Beyond research and teaching, Jamie enjoys capturing the beauty of people, places, and objects through photography.
Meet Stephanie Gillis-Paaulgard, instructor of the X-SKL 21 Email Marketing - Generating Warms Leads & Revenue course!
 
Stephanie describes herself as a coffee-loving, story-telling, goal-smashing entrepreneur.  Her natural high energy, coupled with +20 years as a public relations & marketing strategist, creates the perfect mix to share concepts in a practical and interactive way.
