The last couple of months have been busy, both in terms of making new work but also, behind the scenes, making preparations for some exciting events this summer.

'[De]Constructed Cloth' is an ambitious new piece of work, created in response to a visit to Sunny Bank Mill textile archive earlier this year. The work takes the fluctuating fortunes of the local textile industry as it's inspiration. The piece combines cyanotype print and methods of deconstructing cloth to create multi-layered imagery.

The work will be submitted to the next 62 Group exhibition, titled 'CONSTRUCT' at Sunny Bank Mills this summer. I shall be keeping my fingers crossed that the work is selected for the show, which promises to showcase some of the best contemporary textile art from the UK and beyond

I hope you will join me for the opening of CONSTRUCT at Sunny Bank Mills on 20th July, 2-4pm. Myself an other members of the 62 Group, including Richard McVetis and Debbie Lyddon will be giving a short talk about some of the work in the exhibition. If you need further enticements there will tea and delicious cake!

Alongside the exhibition I have been invited to teach a workshop at Sunny Bank Mills 'Blueprints from the Mill', an introductory cyanotype workshop, which will take inspiration from the heritage of cloth production at the mill. Tickets are available to book now.

Next month I am also looking forward to the release of my new book 'Poetic Cloth; Creating Meaning in Textile Art', which is released on 22nd August. To celebrate I will be having a book launch on 5th September at Sunny Bank Mills gallery, 7-9pm. The event is free and tickets are now available to book online.

On Saturday 7th September I will be running a free drop-in Stitch Workshop, 12-3pm this time at the wonderful Salts Mills bookshop. There will be signed copies of the book available to buy at both events

I hope you will join me. It will be really lovely to celebrate the launch of the book with those of you who have supported me so much over the years.

Hope to see you soon,
Hannah
