The Maynard Education Foundation
Honors John Ogden at "The Taste"
MEF was delighted to honor Maynard High School (MHS) teacher John Ogden at the 17th Annual "The Taste." John is going into his fourth year at MHS, where he teaches Communications, Advanced Communications, and Broadcast Journalism.
John has received multiple grants from the Maynard Education Foundation (MEF) including; expanding the Photography Program to create new displays of student work throughout MHS, purchasing materials for the MHS Chess Club, and entering MHS students in the New England High School Emmy Awards. Most recently, John worked with MEF to spearhead the 1stAnnual Amateur Photography Competition.
John says he is motivated to apply for MEF grants to give his students greater opportunities and greater possibilities. His advice for any teacher thinking about applying for a grant is to “Go for it! If you have an idea, this is your opportunity to transform that idea into a reality.”
MEF honored John because of his passion for teaching, his dedication to his students, and his commitment to supporting innovative ideas that bring new opportunities to the Maynard Public Schools.
This summer MEF will place a commemorative brick in honor of Mr. Ogden's contributions to the Maynard Public Schools in the Maynard High School walkway. Please visit the MEF website or contact Joe Cioni to purchase a brick in honor of a MHS graduate, student, teacher, or community member.
Congratulations to the Winners of the
First Annual Amateur Photography Competition!
Congrats to Maynard High School (MHS) Students Jack Denn, Tyler McMahon and Samantha Bakalos on winning the 1st Annual Amateur Photography Contest.
MEF was proud to sponsor the competition in conjunction with MHS teacher John Ogden, who ran the competition with students in his Communications classes. The theme of this year's competition was "Maynard."
MEF is grateful to Gallery Seven for generously donating the frames for the top three photographs. The winning images were auctioned off at the Taste. The proceeds from the auction benefit MEF's grant program.
Thank you to the judges, Gallery Seven, John Ogden and MHS students and staff for making the 1st Amateur Photography Competition a success!
