Fair Update

Planning for this October’s Fantasia Fair is well underway, and we have lots of information to share. A few weeks ago, Dallas Denny, Dee LaValle, and Temperance DuWitt met in Provincetown for the Fair’s annual pre-plan trip to make arrangements for this year’s event. We had meetings with our Fair partners to review your feedback, brainstorm ideas, and make contracts. A variety of topics were discussed from service, menus, new space options, and timing of events, to name a few. Plus, we sold some ads along the way! It was a very busy and productive weekend!

The committee entered into agreements for our events with the Crown & Anchor, Pilgrim House, and with the Boatslip for the Fair office. We met with the ownership of Bayside Betsy’s and we are pleased to announce their addition to our lunch offerings this Fall. See the sidebar story for more on Betsy’s.

Last year’s successful Dinner/Dance will be returning, along with a variety of special events/fun to celebrate the week. Club Purgatory will once again be opening their doors for us and serving up a late-night buffet after the Fantasia Fair Follies. The Tuesday night Pioneer Award Banquet has a theme and a menu. The theme will be “HallowThanksgiving.” Come adorned in a Halloween costume and partake in a traditional New England Thanksgiving feast. Come dressed as a Pilgrim for extra points!

Enjoy the update and be watching for lots more to be announced soon!

Welcome back Betsy!

In the spirit of giving Fairgoers more options and tasty choices, the planning committee is pleased to announce Bayside Betsy’s will be returning as a lunch destination for 2019. Betsy’s is centrally located in town, and features a spectacular ocean view. The restaurant is undergoing renovations, including the addition of new deck space adjoining the dining room. It’s a beautiful place to share a meal. Ownership and the chef are excited to have the Fair back. So are we! Welcome back, Bayside Betsy!

The full restaurant lineup with menu offerings will be announced in August. Yum!!!
Fantasia Fair Follies Charity Announced
Fantasia Fair is pleased to announce the brand-new Provincetown LGBTQ Welcome Center has been chosen as our 2019 charity. Ticket sales and tips from the Fantasia Fair Follies talent show are donated to charity. In past years, Fantasia Fair has made contributions to the town library, the local police department, an AIDS support group, a local hospice facility, the town soup kitchen, and a senior services group, and we helped buy the fire department a life‐saving defibrillator. Last year the UU Meeting House was the beneficiary, utilizing the donated funds to aid their recovery efforts from flood damage. Over the years, the people coming to the Fantasia Fair Follies have raised more than $50,000 for organizations that serve the people of Provincetown and Cape Cod.
Do you have a performance you would like to share, or do you want to be on stage in front of an engaged audience? Then Fan Fair Follies is the place for you! Sign-up is now open, and will remain open until the week of the Fair. It is open to all Fair attendees.

We are accepting workshop proposals for this Fall. We’ve received many exciting ones, but have room for more. Consider hosting a workshop. We’re looking for wonderful, exciting, topical, stunning, fabulous, amazing workshops on every aspect of transgender existence: personal presentation, identity, relationships, community, activism, sexuality, history—you name it. Please consider sending us a proposal.

Don’t forget activity and interactive type workshops as well. Learn while having fun! Now, THAT’S the Fair.

Apply for a Scholarship!
We are accepting applications for scholarships. Every year, we award individuals/couples an opportunity to experience Fantasia Fair at either greatly reduced or completely waived rates, including lodging, based on financial need. Anyone can apply, regardless of gender identity or presentation, including if you identify as cisgender.

The cost of any transgender conference presents a barrier to some, and we are pleased that the generosity of our attendee base and our fundraising efforts allow us to offer these opportunities. When you register, consider making a donation to the scholarship fund. Any amount will help us bring people to the Fair who otherwise would not be able to attend.

The application process will close mid-July, so get your forms in by the deadline. Please be assured, all applications will be kept private.

The application can be found on our scholarship page by clicking the button below
