May 2018 Fair Update

The planning committee earlier this month completed a three-day planning trip; meeting with our Fair partners to negotiate rates and make plans for this Fall. Overwhelmingly, we heard how much Provincetown’s innkeepers, restaurateurs, and businesspeople enjoy Fair week and how much they appreciate each and every fairgoer they meet. We shared with them your comments from the survey and they all were appreciative and eager to adjust where necessary. One restaurant told us they would put on an additional server and another has some wonderful new dishes they want to include. Your feedback is so important!

We are pleased to announce that The Crown & Anchor will be a central location for Fair events and lunches this Fall. The Crown has a new look due to a renovation and has been freshened up for this season. It will be an all new experience at the Crown this October, beginning with an all-new Orientation brunch format all the way through the Gala banquet. For the daily lunch program beyond the Crown, the restaurant line-up is still being finalized. Once we have confirmation, we will share.

Club Purgatory will once again open the club for Fair goers immediately following the Follies on Friday night. Feel free to wear a costume and dance the night away. The club also prepares a scrumptious dinner buffet in case you get hungry from all the dancing.

The UU church was very appreciative of being named this year’s local charity, and as they have over the years, are opening the church for our use for workshops and events. On the final Sunday of the Fair, the congregation welcomes us with a worship service that is equally moving and incredible. It’s a wonderful way to conclude your Fair week.

Ready, Set! The fabulous Fantasia Follies for many years has been the signature event of the Fair and the most anticipated by the people of Provincetown. It’s the event that has raised thousands of dollars over the years for local Provincetown charities. This year the UU church of Provincetown and Freedom for all Massachusetts will be the beneficiaries of your generosity.

The Fantasia Fair Follies is open to every fair goer, including presenters and partners, to showcase their talents and maybe some they never realized they had. First-timers will find comradery and encouragement. We are looking for all types of acts this year, including comedians, dancers, singers, storytellers, musicians, poets, sketches, magic acts, jugglers, ventriloquists.
