the Fantasia Fair Solstice. . .

This past weekend we passed the point where this Fall’s fair is closer than the last and with the change in the calendar, more and more of Fantasia Fair 2018 is coming into focus. The planning committee has been hard at work. In this the April newsletter, we will share several new announcements and the most recent fair news available.

Couples/SO program to be expanded!

We are pleased to announce that Fantasia Fair’s Couples and SO programming will almost double its therapist lead sessions this fall at Fantasia Fair 2018. Part of this growth includes new sessions focused specifically on the trans-person who is in an active relationship whether their significant partner is attending the fair or not. The SO track will also see new programming focused on intimacy, led by a board certified Clinical Social Worker/Sex-Therapist. The number of couples’ sessions is also increasing to provide smaller, fast paced, focused discussions while increasing the sharing opportunities for each couple. All of this is possible due to the gracious commitment from two long-time friends of the fair. As previously announced, FanFair 2018 lead therapist will once again be the renowned Dr. Maureen Osborne. Maureen has extensive clinical experience working with Trans-people, Couples and Significant Others. We are also pleased to announce Carole MacKenzie will once again take part in facilitating numerous workshops. Carole is a renowned Clinical therapist and a board-certified sex-therapist. All in all, Fantasia Fair 2018 will offer a uniquely focused 360 approach when it comes to Trans-relationship programming. Workshop descriptions and schedule will be posted in the coming weeks.
 New!!! First-time fair goers program.

Newcomers are an integral part of Fantasia Fair. We all remember how uneasy and nervous we felt at our first fair. This fall we are pleased to announce a comprehensive and integrated approach to welcome first-time fair goers to the Fantasia Fair family. We have retooled the Big Brother/Sister programs on both the trans-side and SO-side to provide timely connections for the first timers who seek a BB/BS. We know many of the anxieties a first timer has. Many of those unknowns can be dispelled long before arrival in Provincetown. We are pleased to announce on the trans-side Tina Simmons and the SO-side Jolie LaValle will be the BB/BS coordinators for FanFair 2018. Both will actively reach out to the newcomer and provide information and/or a match to a veteran fair goer/couple. Tina & Jolie will also chair separate morning 9:00am open discussion workshops that are a great way to start every fair day. These sessions are invaluable for the newcomer, in meeting other fair goers, discussing issues, exchanging ideas and asking questions. Additionally, the planning committee will welcome first time fair goers on Monday night of fair week by holding an exclusive reception for them. We will bring in light sandwiches and desserts and offer each new comer an opportunity to meet each other, formally welcome them to the fair and answer any questions. If you are a veteran fair goer, please consider volunteering when you register to be a Big Brother / Big Sister!

Fashion Show hosts Announced!

The venerable Fantasia Fair Fashion show will be hosted once again by Cody Suzuki and this year joined by 2017 Mr. Congeniality himself Nick Greiner. It will be a unique night hosted by two dapper transmen. The exact format for this spectacular evening is still being refined but for sure it will be a night celebrating fashion, charisma and just plain fun where YOU are the star. Watch for further information to be available soon, to give all plenty of time to plan for their spectacular night of stardom.

FUNtasia Fair 2018.

You will certainly find rewarding resources and an in-depth experience to support your journey. However, after dark, Fantasia Fair will transition into FUNtasia Fair. The key word being FUN. What would a Cape Cod vacation be without FUN? FUNtasia Fair 2018 has it covered with a variety of social events and activities. Whether it’s a game of "Cards against Humanity" at 306A Commercial Street, dancing at Club Purgatory, having a laugh at the Follies or going out to dinner with some of your new friends. FUNtasia Fair 2018 will have much much more to get you out of the Condo and into the buzz of Fair week. From bulletin boards to Twitter, you will be able to tap into all the goings-on and have as much FUN as you want.
Destination Provincetown!!!

On the weekend of May 4-6, the planning committee will be descending upon Provincetown, piecing together the major components of the fair. We will be meeting with our fair partners, town officials and vendors reviewing every detail, all focused on making Fantasia Fair 2018 the very best ever. It will be a busy weekend, negotiating rates, selecting restaurants and venues as well as meeting with our advertisers. A full report will be published in our May newsletter

Walking Tour set to return to FanFair 2018.

This week we confirmed the incredibly informative "Walking Tour" hosted by 2017 Friend of the Fair Recipient Robert Anderson, will be traversing the streets of Provincetown once again at Fantasia Fair 2018. Did you know that several of the structures on Commercial Street were floated across the bay to their current location? That is just one of many fascinating facts you will learn on the "Walking Tour"  around Provincetown this fall. Don't forget to pack your sneakers!

Volunteers!

Volunteers have always been an important part of the success of Fantasia Fair. Whether you are helping to take tickets at lunch, being a Big Brother/Big Sister or running errands to keep the fair moving and comfortable for all fair goers. Volunteering elevates your Fair experience by giving back directly to our community.  As has been the case for many years, Emily Sheldon will be returning once again as the volunteer coordinator. This year the fair will be saying thanks to all the volunteers with a light reception on Thursday afternoon. We also will honor Emily for her many years of service to the fair with a special presentation. Please consider volunteering this fall and being a part of Fantasia Fair 2018!
