News & Notes

September Edition #1

Selection Sunday

As promised, meal choices for lunches, banquets and events went online on Schedule on Sunday, September 2nd. Unfortunately, the new Choose Your Meals web page did not direct people to RegOnLine, and confusion ensued.

We apologize for not including a link and clearer instructions on the page. That has been remedied, so you can now visit http://fanfair.info/menus/ to review the menus and click a link to navigate to your registration page where is the place you make the actual selections. Be sure to read the instructions before you click and be sure to click Complete before leaving the registration site to save your changes.

Awaiting you at check-in will be a customized sheet of tickets based on these selections. We are rolling out a brand-new ticket system to assure you a faster and more efficient check-in.

2018 Participant's Guide at Printer!

After six rounds of reading and making edits, the 2018 Participant’s Guide has been sent to the printer! We migrated from Word (or Perhaps Microsoft Publisher) to QuarkXpress, which is a professional and powerful page layout program. It was a lot of work for Planning Committee members Dee LaValle & Dallas Denny, but now, among other things, left/right page sequence numbers now change automatically, and the Table of Contents and Index of Advertisers update automatically as well. The real benefit will be in the years to come as content changes and pages get added.

The book has a familiar design but with all new content and colorful graphics. It has been expanded by a whopping 20% over recent years, mostly directed at the added features and new media tools in this year's Fair. Page after page the book will deliver useful content that will help you maximize your time and enhance your Fair experience. We have added QR codes to this year’s book; they take you to web pages for additional information, like the most recent schedule. To use the codes, simply hold your phone over them with the camera on and press the button that pops up. Presto! There’s the web page on your phone’s browsers. An electronic version will be available soon on the website.

Update on Awards

Our stockpile of blank medals for the Fantasia Fair, Most Helpful, and Congeniality Awards has been dwindling, and we finally ran out. We’re happy to tell you the new medals will be visually distinct. We ordered three different finishes. You’ll find out what they are at the Saturday Banquet.
