Over 80 Playhouse fans joined us at O Steaks and Seafood on January 20th for the Season Announcement Party and Fundraiser.  And the SIX productions we've lined up for our inaugural season in Meredith are:

June 19-29
Noises Off by Michael Frayn
“The funniest farce ever written!” - NY Post
A gloriously funny celebration of life in the theatre!  Noises Off follows the on-and-off-stage antics of an acting troupe as they stumble from bumbling dress rehearsal to disastrous closing night. Everything that can go wrong does, as actors desperately try to hang on to their lines, their performances and the furniture. Add a slippery plate of sardines and you have the most hilarious backstage farce ever written.
July 3-13
Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure by Steven Dietz
Winner!  2007 Edgar Award for Best Mystery Play
The world’s greatest detective has seemingly reached the end of his remarkable career when a case presents itself that is too tempting to ignore.    In this spirited, fast-moving and thoroughly theatrical adaptation, Dietz presents Holmes at the height of his powers—surrounded by all the elements that fans of his exploits have come to expect: danger, intrigue, wit, humor and surprise.
July 17-27
Barefoot in the Park by Neil Simon
Neil Simon’s biggest Broadway hit!
This light-hearted romance between a straight-laced lawyer and an impetuous free spirit begins where most romantic comedies end – with the marriage!  Set in Greenwich Village in the early 1960s, it opens with newlyweds Paul and Corie moving into their fifth-floor walkup apartment. Married life soon becomes complicated by a leaking skylight, the appearance of her mother, an eccentric neighbor, and all those stairs!

July 31-August 10
The 39 Steps
adapted by Patrick Barlow from the book by John Buchan from the movie of Alfred Hitchcock
“Absurdly enjoyable!”  NY Times
Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! This award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of 4), an on-stage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers and some good old-fashioned romance!
August 14-24
The Fantasticks
music by Harvey Schmidt, book and lyrics by Tom Jones
The World’s Longest Running Musical
“Try to Remember” when this delightful musical was not entrancing theatergoers around the world.  A NY institution which opened in 1960 and is playing there still, it is a fable of “a boy, a girl, two fathers and a wall”.   With its poetic dialogue and a staging that epitomizes simplicity, the tale of youth, learning, love, and growth enchants theatregoers of all ages.
August 28-September 1st   One week only!  Bonus Production!
The Unicycle of Life by Bryan Halperin
World Premiere!
It’s just another day on tour for the Kelly Family Circus where backstage life supplies as many laughs, thrills, and dramatic moments as the afternoon’s performance.  Special times:
Wed-Sun at 7:30pm, Fri and Sat at 2pm.

Subscription packages are now on sale for the five mainstage productions (and also give you access to discounted tickets for the sixth, bonus production).  Purchase online here!

Over 40 community members are hard at work rehearsing this Tony Award-winning musical!  Tickets are already available!  Due to the transition from Weirs Beach to Meredith over the next month a physical box office will be difficult to maintain, so we have set up an online option for purchasing tickets for Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn which we will be performing at Interlakes Auditorium in February! This is your chance to purchase a Big River t-shirt!  If you'd like to purchase one of our company t-shirts you can order one online.  Please fill in the Paypal order form below BY WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 30th to ensure that we have enough time to get your shirt printed by the weekend of the show.  You can pick up your pre-ordered t-shirt from our temporary office in Meredith or at Big River performances at Inter-Lakes.

Our Season Announcement Party was the perfect opportunity to make another exciting announcement.  We we delighted to inform guests that we are teaming up with Magic Foods Restaurant Group (the team behind both O Steaks and Seafood in Lakeport and Canoe in Center Harbor) to take our concession services to the next level.  Beginning this summer, Magic Food will be providing Playhouse audiences with high quality food and refreshments to go with the high caliber of performances you will see onstage!  Join us before the show for a picnic dinner which may include gourmet sandwiches, beautiful salads or a refreshing chilled soup.  At intermission, stop by for a fresh baked sweet treat and a glass of wine.  Stay after the show to enjoy dessert and a cup of coffee.

We are so excited about this new partnership and know that you will be entertained in delicious style this summer.
