Baby it's cold outside.  But here at the Playhouse planning for the summer is well underway.  That includes our very popular summer camp program.  Last summer over 100 kids and teens participated in our summer camp program and this summer we expect it to grow even more!  We are slightly changing the format for older kids by developing a program specifically for "tweens".

This summer's overall theme for kids and tweens will be "Create Your Own Dramatic Adventure".  Kids will create theatre, art, and music based on some amazing adventures like "Forest Expedition", "Ocean Voyage", and more!  Visit our camps page for dates and details: and don't forget to check out our April Vacation Camp info!

We are also in the planning stages of a new internship program for Teens.  If you'd like to learn more, email

Over 40 community members are hard at work rehearsing this Tony Award-winning musical!  Tickets are already available!  Due to the transition from Weirs Beach to Meredith over the next month a physical box office will be difficult to maintain, so we have set up an online option for purchasing tickets for Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn which we will be performing at Interlakes Auditorium in February! You can order your tickets at any time... Check it out!

Did you know...

* The original production of Big River opened on Broadway on April 25, 1985 and ran for 1005 performances, closing on September 20, 1987.  It won 7 Tony Awards.

* The original Huck Finn, Daniel H. Jenkins, came back to Broadway for the show's revival in 2003 where he played Mark Twain.  The revival was notable for being performed in American Sign Language as well as traditionally acted and sung.  Jenkins also voiced the role of Huck played by deaf actor Tyrone Giordano.

* The role of Pap Finn was an early career success for John Goodman who later went to on star on the t.v. series "Roseanne".

* Bob Gunton who originated the role of The King, also originated the role of Peron in Broadway's Evita.

* Gunton paired up with film and t.v. star Rene Auberjonois ("M.A.S.H.", "Benson") who played The Duke.

*Actor John Cameron Mitchell understudied the role of Huck and went on to replace Daniel Jenkins.  He is best-known as the creator and star of Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
It's official!  We will be completely moved out of the Weirs at the end of January.  Our temporary office will be located in our company house on the Meredith Campus (the grey building next to the education building).  Though we will be keeping somewhat regular office hours there, the best way to reach us is still by phone or email.  Our Weirs phone number - (603) 366-7377 - will be forwarded to Meredith and you can always reach us at  You can also contact individual staff members through the staff page of our website.  We are so excited that the Meredith Campus is becoming closer to a reality each day and sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to our Capital Campaign to help make this happen.
