|Off and Running....
While summer brings lots of fun, relaxation and extra sleep for our students, our summers at Pure are filled with a little fun and rest, but a whole lot of preparation for a coming school year.
Following last year's phenomenal growth of tripling the number of students that we saw, we knew we needed to be strategic in our planning this summer to prepare for the coming school year. To present our program to 13,902 students using trained volunteers, it doesn't just happen by chance. We have a wonderful team that works behind the scenes, both staff and volunteers, who make this operation happen. I'm so blessed to have the opportunity to lead this group.
A few of the changes that have taken place this summer include: hiring of a curriculum designer, Kathy Shelburne, to enhance and update our current Sexual Risk Avoidance Program for middle and high schoolers and to build the remaining four years of Solutions elementary abuse prevention curriculum to launch over the next two years. In addition, Kathy as a former educator, will serve as a liaison with all of our schools and educators to visit the classrooms and deliver some supplies, as well as answer any questions prior to the presentations. We also have a part-time staff person, Peggy Waggoner, committed to scheduling our schools and volunteers, allowing me to spend more time recruiting, training and developing our volunteers and board of trustees.
With new systems in place, we look forward to filling new requests that were presented to us last school year in Floyd, Washington and Scott counties. My motto since day one has been that we have "NO LIMITS," which we have proudly displayed on our office wall, and can go wherever we are requested. Stay tuned as we have some big news to share later this year as Pure's mission may be going across the sea to reach people thousands of miles away. We are excited about this new year and already have several training dates scheduled for new volunteers. Please review the dates in the Enews and share with those you know who might have an interest in joining our team.
Thank you for being a part of our mission and vision as we continue to transform our communities!

Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
We took the opportunity to treat and recognize our volunteers and their families this summer. It was a wonderful evening to reflect and share on the past school year and the impact each one has made on students and the dedication to the vision of our programs. Thank you to all our volunteers!

Shari recognized all the volunteers for their special roles they play and their families for supporting them in their service.

Taste of Southern Indiana
Our staff and families had some fun at the RSVP Taste of Southern Indiana fundraiser trying foods from the 29 vendors and visiting with one another and several of our own volunteers as well as other members of the community out to support Hope Southern Indiana's RSVP Program.
Lots of fun and laughs at the Pure table.
New Scheduling System
We are excited to add our new scheduling system to have the "semester at a glance" to keep our staff and volunteers apprised at all times what counties, schools and what volunteers are serving.
