New product safety laws urged to address 3D printing

by Gail Greatorex

I have made a submission to the current review of the Australian Consumer Law proposing it consider the need for changes to accommodate the 3D-printed product market.

Provisions in the ACL dealing with supplying product designs would enable remedial action where necessary. It would also help motivate and educate designers on factoring safety into their designs.

New book exploring legal issues in 3D printing

I met Dr Angela Daly at the Inside 3D Printing Conference in Melbourne 2015. Angela has been exploring some of the non-technical aspects of 3D printing. She has now published a new book that examines the topic from a number of angles - Socio-legal aspects of the 3D printing revolution, published by Palgrave Macmillan.
