This September, can your school support halow?
We are looking to partner with schools in the local area and we need your help! This September whether you are a parent, student or teacher can you nominate halow as a charity partner? Increasing students' awareness and understanding of learning disabilities and disability issues is key. We can provide interesting and informative assemblies and lessons as well as a whole host of fun and educational Fundraising ideas! Contact Hannah for more details.
Summer Sports Day led by The Challenge
It was fantastic to work with The Challenge again this summer bringing together young people in the local community and raise awareness of learning disability.
This year we worked with the group to organise and facilitate a sports day for the young people at halow, which was incredibly popular. halow's young people were incredibly excited to the meet The Challenge group and get stuck into the sports on offer. After the warm up everyone was split into teams for games of basketball, football-cricket and boccia giving everyone the opportunity to get involved and meet each other! It was a great success with both groups learning new skills. Thank you to everyone involved, you can read the full story and see photos here
We are always looking for volunteers to support our activities during the week, weekends and evenings so if you can spare some time please get in touch with Aisha

Trusts, Grants and Foundations
halow works hard to partner with grant-making bodies, charitable trusts and foundations. These organisations provide vital funds for projects and equipment so that halow can continue to support many young people in and around Surrey.
So far this year our work has been supported by The Wisley Foundation, Johnson Wax Charitable Trust, Newby Trust and the Screwfix Foundation. We are delighted to have support from such esteemed organisations for our Social Activities, Building Futures and A Reason to Get Up programmes. These programmes are key aspects of our spiral of services supporting young people with a learning disability; helping them to build confidence,  build friendship networks, take part in meaningful activities and learn life skills. We would like to express our gratitude to these organisations for their support for our work and our young people.
If you or your company is connected to a charitable trust you can help halow by making an introduction or nominating halow as a possible partner. Please contact Rose of the fundraising team for more information or to make an introduction.
Our Cheeky Bloggers have been in the studio again and have created a fantastic film about what our gardening group have been up to at the halow allotment. Showing us what they have grown and learnt within their sessions! Check it out here. Looks great guys!
My halow story - Youth Committee

“I really enjoy coming to the Youth Committee each month. I get to hang out with my friends and talk to Jason or Aisha. This time we have all been talking about what sports we like with the lady from the council. It’s great that they come to us for our ideas. I would like to have a go at golf sometime.
Other times we have been talking about ideas for what trips we’d like to do. It is a good way to find out what else is coming up too.”
Thank you to Shield Associates for teaching our young people personal safety skills

The two sessions Shield ran for halow covered a range of topics, tips and techniques including what individuals should do in a confrontational situation – how to try and avoid it and how to remove yourself from it if it should happen.
halow young people not only enjoyed the two sessions, they also got expert, practical advice that they can use in the unlikely event of a potentially hostile situation. Thank you Shield Associates!
