Looking ahead to 2015/2016

Exciting productions lined up

Thanks to everyone who supported our 100th production in June - the Mike Harding comedy Fur Coat and No Knickers. It was fantastic to reach our landmark production - and we received a letter of congratulations from our town's MP, which you can read more about below. But, as always, it's onwards and upwards for us and we're delighted to have secured some VERY exciting productions for the coming months.

The Flint Street Nativity Nov 2015First up in November is the Tim Firth comedy, The Flint Street Nativity. Anyone who has ever watched a primary school nativity play, or remembers the playground rivalries over playing Mary and Joseph, will love this feel-good comedy. Tim Firth also wrote the hit play Calendar Girls, which we performed in March 2013. If you loved that play we think The Flint Street Nativity will be right up your street too. Enjoy some pre-Christmas fun to get you in the mood for December.

The Flint Street Nativity will run from Monday November 9 to Saturday November 14 at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. Tickets will be £10, with £9 concessions available Monday to Wednesday. All matinee tickets will be £9.

Our March play will be the award-winning John Godber comedy Bouncers, which takes us to a Northern club where four doormen guide us through the laughter and tears of a 1980s night out.

The Phantom of the OperaJust a couple of weeks later, from March 29 - April 2, we are thrilled to present our Youth Group in the gothic musical drama The Phantom of the Opera, by Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Charles Hart. We are very excited to have secured the rights to be the first amateur company in the town to stage this dramatic piece of theatre.

We are also delighted to be able to offer local young people the chance to join LTC Youth for this fantastic show. Auditions will be held on Saturday September 5. To audition you must be between the ages of 14 and 21 when the show is staged next Easter. If you, or anyone you know, would like to take this opportunity, please email elaine@little-theatre.co.uk as soon as possible for more details.

Rehearsals for Phantom will be held every Monday between September and Christmas and then every Monday and Thursday from the New Year until the show is staged, so all cast members must be prepared for this commitment as well as being available throughout the Easter weekend and the week of the show.

Do use the social share buttons below to forward this newsletter to friends or connections who might be interested in auditioning for this show, which promises to be the most exciting and ambitious youth production we have ever staged.

Always look on the bright side

Announcing our November 2016 show

We're also able to reveal that for November 2016 we have secured the rights to perform the Monty Python musical Spamalot.

Loosely based on (or lovingly ripped off from) the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, this hit comedy musical is famous for taking silliness to a whole new level. It brings us an alternative version of the legend of King Arthur and his knights of the round table. There are also elements from some of the most popular Monty Python songs and sketches woven in for good measure. If you're always keen to look on the bright side of life, you won't want to miss Spamalot.

We'll keep you updated through our newsletters and on social media with news about when tickets for all our forthcoming shows go on sale, or you can check with the Brewhouse box office on 01283-508100.

Praise from our MP

Andrew Griffiths writes to LTC

We received congratulations on our 100th production from Burton MP Andrew Griffiths.

In his letter, reproduced below, he said: "What a great achievement entertaining the people of Burton and beyond over such a long period and to celebrate your milestone at the Brewhouse by repeating your first production there is inspirational."

Patrons' Evenings

Our bi-annual 'thank you' is just weeks away.

We are very grateful to the private patrons and corporate patrons who support our amateur theatre group with an annual donation.

One of the ways we say 'thank you' is through a special patrons' evening every other year. Only patrons are invited to this special event, and their tickets are FREE.

100 not out patrons eveningPatrons' Evenings take place this year on September 1 and 2. If you are a patron, you should have received a form in the post inviting you to claim your two FREE tickets for one of these nights. If you've not yet received one, please email Elaine at elaine@little-theatre.co.uk as soon as possible.

The evening takes place in the bar - and numbers are limited, so it is first come, first served to claim your tickets. It will be a chance to relax, enjoy a few drinks and watch some music and comedy from members of the Little Theatre Company. This year we'll bring you some fond memories of favourite LTC sketches and songs down the years in an evening we are calling 100 Not Out in honour of reaching our 100th production this year. Although there is no charge to attend, we will be holding a raffle on the night with the proceeds going to LTC funds to help with the costs of future productions.

Read about our corporate patrons by clicking their names on our website patrons page

Elaine tackles the Color Run

Sponsor her and support Burton YMCA

For most of her life Elaine Pritchard has HATED running with a passion, but last year she downloaded the 'Couch to 5k' app on her iphone and discovered that MAYBE running wasn't quite THAT bad after all.

Now she's putting that training to good use and running the first 5k of her life as part of a team raising money for Burton YMCA.

#TeamYMCA is running the Color Run, Birmingham (The American spelling of 'colour' is theirs!)

If you've never come across a Color Run before, the idea is that while you run you get showered with colours! Should make some interesting pictures! If you can make a donation of any amount, you can visit the fundraising page online here, or leave a donation marked for Elaine c/o Little Theatre Company at the Brewhouse box office.

Wil's a hit at jazz festival

And enjoys an onstage chat with Tom Fermor

Wil Pearson opened the Saturday session of Burton's first-ever Real Ale and Jazz Festival at the National Brewery Museum in July.

The day was compered by former LTC member Tom Fermor who chatted to Wil on stage and told the audience about the jazz pianist and singer's appearances with Little Theatre Company down the years.

Wil's been busy with gigs around the area recently and a return visit to the Brewery Museum in the future may also be a possibility. You can follow his updates at his Facebook Page, Wil Pearson Music.
