Busy summer for LTC

Patrons' Evenings in September, then Sweeney Todd in November

Hope you are all enjoying a great summer.

We know that a lot of our members are having adventures, and we'll share a few of them with you in this newsletter.

For Little Theatre Company, the summer is a busy time as we are rehearsing for our exclusive and FREE evening for our patrons - being held on September 3 and 4. We have also started rehearsals for our November musical - which this year is the story of Sweeney Todd - the murderous demon barber of Fleet Street.

If you are a private or a corporate patron of Little Theatre Company you should have already received your invitation to request two free tickets to one of our patrons' evenings - either Tuesday September 3 OR Wednesday September 4.

If you've not had your invitation - please email elaine@little-theatre.co.uk ASAP and we'll sort that out for you.

Patrons' evening tickets are something that money can't buy. They don't go on sale and the only way you can come and see the show is to be a patron. It's a special thank you that we offer to our patrons every other year. But anyone can become a private patron - in return for an annual donation of £10 - and local businesses can become a corporate patron for a £25 annual donation. Patrons also get a thank you in our programmes and all corporate patrons get a page on our website.

This year's entertainment includes extracts from the Victoria Wood TV comedy Dinnerladies and the classic radio show Round The Horne as well as members of LTC Youth performing extracts from Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

The night starts in the Brewhouse bar at 7.30pm and you will be able to buy drinks from the bar. There will also be a raffle to raise funds for the Company.

If you want to come along there is STILL time to sign up as a patron if you are quick. Email elaine@little-theatre.co.uk for more information.

Fiona is flying high

Fiona Waite has been enjoying a break with a difference this summer in France with her father Robin.
They headed to Metz Lorraine in France to take part in the Lorraine Mondrian air balloon rally alongside balloonists from all over the world.
During their stay they were part of a new world record for the largest number of hot air balloons inflating within the space of an hour - an impressive 408.
They will also be going to Bristol Balloon Fiesta and Chatsworth Country Fair with their balloon this summer.
We'll be sorry to say goodbye to Fiona - for now - when she leaves us to go to University this autumn. Good Luck to Fiona and all the LTC Youth members moving away to study this year.

"Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd...."

Little Theatre Company is delighted to bring you Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's musical thriller, Sweeney Todd, from Monday November 11 - Saturday November 16.

Set in murky Victorian London, the musical depicts Sweeney Todd's savage quest for justice and retribution after years of false imprisonment. Aided and abetted by the opportunist pie-shop owner, Mrs Lovett, he sets out to avenge the wrongs done to him and his family, providing some fresh ingredients for the pies along the way.

Laced with dark humour, dazzling wit and an infectious score, Sondheim's musical thriller has been hailed as "a masterwork"and "wickedly funny".

There will be a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm as well as 7.30pm shows all week. Tickets are : £10 adults / £8 concessions. (Concessions Monday to Wednesday only - Matinee tickets all £8) Ring 01283-508100 or book online at http://www.ticketsource.co.uk/littletheatreco

Brian Eccleshall Builders - a thank you

Thanks to Burton company Brian Eccleshall (Builders) Limited who have recently renewed their Corporate Patronage of Little Theatre Company for another year.

We are very grateful for their support and the support of all our patrons.

Piaf - The Little Sparrow

We were delighted that so many people enjoyed our production of Piaf in June and were thrilled with the great reception given to Katie Haywood in the demanding title role of the French diva with the controversial private life.

Katie shared the stage with a very able and committed supporting cast who brought to vivid life the story of Piaf's rise from the backstreets of Paris to international stardom.

Live music, directed by Tim Robinson, added to the special atmosphere.

Congratulations Team Ratcliffe

Well done to the ladies of Team Ratcliffe - including Heather and Georga Ratcliffe and Caitlin Pritchard (pictured below) who completed The Race For Life at Prestwold, near Loughborough recently and raised almost £500 for Cancer Research UK.

Heather and Georga's next fund-raising effort for this cause - so close to the hearts of so many of us - is to tackle the "Pretty muddy" 5k mud run at Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire on Saturday 14 September. Good luck!!

We'll post details of how you can sponsor them on the Little Theatre Company Facebook Page - http://www.facebook.com/LittleTheatreCo

Thanks for subscribing to our newsletter. The next edition will be out in October 2013.
