We're auditioning

Opportunity for 14-20-year-olds to join us

Do you know anyone aged 14 to 20 who shares our passion for performing and would like to audition for LTC Youth?

Please spread the word that we're holding an audition day for company membership on Saturday, September 13, at The Brewhouse Arts Centre, in Burton. If you know anyone who would like to be considered, please ask them to email elaine@little-theatre.co.uk for more information as soon as possible.

Unfortunately we're not able to see anyone younger than 14 this time.

We would welcome your help in raising awareness as these are the only youth company auditions we plan to hold before we stage Evita from Tuesday, April 7, to Saturday, April 11, 2015 (including a matinee on Saturday). Please use the social share buttons below to help spread the message.

Berta's Big Quiz

Please support our bi-annual fundraiser

On Saturday, September 6, Berta's Big Quiz Night will take over the Brewhouse bar from 7.30pm as we stage our major bi-annual fundraiser.

There are still places for teams of four to join the fun. It costs £30 per team (£7.50 each) which will include chip butties at the interval. The bar will be open throughout the event. There will also be a tombola running during the evening.

There will be prizes for the winning team AND for the team that finishes last. All money raised will go towards LTC funds to help with the staging of future productions.

If you want to book a team in, email elaine@little-theatre.co.uk with your team name. You'll then receive details of how to pay and we will need your £30 entry fee before you're officially entered. Places are available on a first come-first served basis.

DVDs of our 2012 LTC Youth production of Les Miserables will also be on sale on the day priced at £10.

Acting up in Lingen

Congratulations to The Anne Lee Players who have just returned from a fantastic week in Lingen, Germany - Burton-on-Trent's twin town - where they performed The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe at the 13th World Festival of Children's Theatre.

The cast included our Tom Pritchard (third from left below), who played Edmund, in the C.S. Lewis classic tale.

The Anne Lee Players World Drama Festival

Colour Your World programme
When they weren't performing they had the chance to watch a range of exciting and varied performances from groups who travelled from countries including Canada, Japan, China, Africa, India, Russia and South America for the festival that took 'Colour your World' as its theme. They also attended workshops and enjoyed social events organised for them by their hosts.

Tom said: "It was an awesome experience. One I'll never forget. We took part in a parade through the streets and a huge opening ceremony. Everyone was so friendly and I've made friends from many countries. It was fantastic to be representing Burton and England."

Tom's diary of his week in Germany will be featured in the autumn newsletter of the Burton and District Arts Council. You can subscribe to the BADAC newsletter here.

Here's a link to a video on YouTube that gives a flavour of the exciting event.

Team Ethiopia

Also enjoying some globe-trotting have been Dara, Shannon and Fawn who have taken part in a World Challenge expedition to Ethiopia with the de Ferrers Academy.

Team Ethiopia

They had the chance to test themselves as they helped with local community projects as well as seeing some of this amazing country. Thanks again to those who contributed to the expedition funds by buying raffle tickets during the week of The History Boys in March.

Feeling the Pulse

Bethan Waite in PulseCongratulations to Bethan Waite who was in the cast of Pulse, the community play staged at Derby Theatre from July 31 to August 1.

This specially-written play with music centred on the fictional Derby Orb Hospital and made some relevant and topical points about the NHS.

Bethan played retiring canteen manager 'Betty' and made a rousing speech in support of the NHS towards the end of the play.

Pulse earned great reviews from the local press and Bethan said she felt so privileged to have been a part of this exciting new production.
