LOFT LETTER: SEPTEMBER 2019
Dear <<First Name>>,

I'm Mitch Rosander, Literary Manager here at Loft Ensemble, with some exciting updates for you!

First off, I’m proud to announce the first production of our Black Box Season in Sawyer’s Playhouse: Sound of Silence, Written by Travis Snyder-Eaton, co-directed by Tor Brown and Noah Copfer. Based on the work of Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, the [mostly] silent comedy explores the evolution of one couple's love across almost 2 decades of American history. The show opens Sept. 20 (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays!) and closes September 29. Don't miss this one-of-a-kind production!

This inaugural Black Box season is something that we’ve wanted as a company for a long time. At Loft, we always encourage growth through hands–on learning; Sawyer's Playhouse has afforded us the opportunity to extend more of those experiences to our company members in all areas of production. The Black Box in Sawyer’s Playhouse has also expanded our reach and community impact by forging new relationships with local playwrights to produce new, original work. This initiative has expanded our full Loft Ensemble season from 6 shows to 11!

On the MainStage, Our Lady of 121st Street has been a roaring success. (If you haven't seen it yet, don't miss out – we close September 15!)

Meanwhile, rehearsals have begun for our next show, Art Is Useless When You’re Being Mauled By A Bear, written by Alisa Tangredi and co-directed by JJ Mayes and Loft’s own Bree Pavey. 'Art Bear,' as we've come to affectionately call it, opens October 5. Stay tuned!

Needless to say, it’s been a busy summer for us at Loft Ensemble as we settle in to our new home in the NoHo Arts District. As autumn approaches, I hope you’ll come join us as we break new ground in Sawyer’s Playhouse and keep things going on the Mainstage!

I’ll see you there!

Mitch
