ATLANTA INDIE BOOKSHOP CRAWL

Who knew there are SO many bookstores in one city? Atlanta LOVES books! We are so excited to be part of such a rich community of book enthusiasts, readers and sellers. Please join us, plus 20 other bookstores, as we celebrate Atlanta, Books, and Being Together Again. For the first time ever, the independent bookstores of the Atlanta metro area invite book lovers to participate in a city bookstore crawl from November 21 to 26, the week leading up to Small Business Saturday!

Anyone can pick up a Bookstore Crawl passport at participating bookstores and collect signatures or stamps by visiting participating bookstores throughout the week. Please note that bookstores may have varying open hours and shopping policies; please check bookstore information in advance of visiting if possible and respect all bookstores’ individual guidelines.

All participants who visit 5 bookstores during the five-day book crawl will receive a coupon for 25% off a single purchase at one store during the month of May! Visit ALL bookstores and get entered for a raffle so big and exciting, you won’t know what to do with yourself! The Georgia Center for the Book is hosting a Bookstore Crawl Afterparty, with additional prizes in store for those who have racked up the most stamps or signatures on their passports! We can't wait to see you there for lots of bookstore swag!

VIRGINIA HIGHLAND WINTERFEST 2022

Virginia Highland Winterfest returns this year on December 9 and 10! The Festival will begin with a Tour of Lights on Friday to show off the neighborhood’s most vibrant holiday decorations. On Saturday, we will start off with a Jingle Jog, followed by a Holiday Parade. The day will rev up with one of the biggest in-town holiday markets, with live music to pair.

Winterfest will kick off with the Tour of Lights, a ticketed event on Friday, December 9, from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. You can purchase tickets here. Enjoy a block party on Hudson Dr. to view the first showing of our favorite decorated homes. There will be beverages and holiday treats at some stops. Participants will receive a Virginia Highland commemorative mug for your sipping delights, along with a map of the event.

The Jingle Jog is on Saturday December 10, from 9 to 10 am on Lanier Blvd. Runners will jog about two miles and receive Virginia Highland gear as a token for participation. Bring your bells for extra cheer! This is not a timed race. Link to registration can be found here.

The Holiday Parade will follow the Jingle Jog on Saturday December 10 from 10 to 11 am on Lanier Blvd. It will start at University, and go down to Los Angeles. Families and individuals can join in the parade for $25, and businesses can join for $50. If you are a resident or business sponsor, look out for an email soon with details on how to participate for free. Sign up here to participate in the parade.

The core of Winterfest is our Holiday Market, with over 50 local artisanal vendors. Stock up on the best holiday gifts from the most unique local vendors in town! Whether you’re looking for art, jewelry, candles, clothing, cleaning supplies, plants, or home goods, this market will blow your mind. The market will run from 11 am to 6 pm. This year, we will also feature young entrepreneur vendors! Young entrepreneur booths will run for 2 hour shifts during the regular artist market.

Bring your little Winterfest goers to the Kids Corner for some fun and games! We will have a bounce house, face painting, crafts, and more. Stay tuned for more details.

Finally, you can support our neighborhood by volunteering to help out at Winterfest! Whether you need community service hours for high school or you just love to see the neighborhood blossom, we could use your help. Volunteers will help set up and break down, register guests for the jog and parade, assist with the Kids Corner, help Tour of Lights house hosts, and guide Winterfest goers to event locations. All volunteers will receive a Winterfest t-shirt and one drink ticket. Volunteer application is linked here.
