Greetings in the name of the risen Lord Jesus. This email is to share with you some recent happenings in the Fellowship.
At the 2018 AGM, we heard an excellent address from Rt Rev. Dr. Richard Condie, Bishop of Tasmania. We hope to have the transcript available on our website in the new year.
The AGM elected the following to be Vice-Presidents:
The Revd. Wally Behan
The Rt Revd. Henry Paltridge
The Revd. Dr Bob Robinson
The Revd. Dr Peter Carrell
The Rt Revd. Derek Eaton
Dr Don Mathieson QC
The elected Executive are:
The Revd. Dave Clancey
The Revd. James de Costobadie
The Revd. Malcolm Falloon
The Revd. Mark Hood
The Revd. Mike Keith
Miss Rosemarie Hawkins
Mrs Lisa McNabb
The AGM also passed the following motion:
"The Latimer Fellowship rejoices in the teaching of the Scriptures set forward in Lambeth 1998 I.10, which upholds faithfulness in marriage between one man and one woman in lifelong union, and teaches that abstinence is right for those who are not called to such a marriage.
The blessing of same sex marriages and civil unions runs contrary to this, and is a significant departure from God's Word. As such, the Latimer Fellowship commits itself to upholding the biblical doctrine and practice as expressed in Lambeth I:10 and calls on its members to do the same."
Lastly, over the previous few years we have tried having free membership, with a suggested donation from members of $35. At our recently planning day, the Executive have decided that it would be best to return to our previous practice, that membership of the Fellowship will be by annual subscription. Members are able to vote at AGMs, receive copies of the publication Focus, and by being part of Latimer are part of the recognised Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC) group in New Zealand. Non-members will continue to be welcome at all Fellowship events.
We will bring in membership by subscription for the 2019 year; there’s no need to ‘re-sign up’ as a member now! We will send you out a reminder to pay your subscription in March/April next year. The Executive also decided that subscriptions would be $20 per person per year (previously subscriptions had been $35 per family, irrespective of how many people were in that family). We felt that a simple per-person, per-year membership was the easiest to understand and administer.
Thank you for your support and partnership in the work of the Fellowship.
