AHE News!!!

A place to share what is going on with AHE.

Summer is a time when many of us have more free time because our home routine has changed due to not doing school or being more relaxed with it.   (Sorry, I realize it is NOT summer time for all of you.)  I am hoping that I can call on some of you to help out AHE with some reviews.

We are looking for a variety of reviews... from book reviews, Curriculum reviews, Website reviews, and Homeschool Activity reviews (reviewing an activity that is a regular activity that others might be interested in hearing about).  We simply request that you only review items that you have used/participated in yourself.

Input from other families is very helpful, because it is to hard for just one person to review it all.  Not all of us use the same curriculum, and it is nice when we can share with each other some additional notes that we don't see in the curriculum catalogs.

Our goal is to post a review each week. Since it is summer for many of us, I was hoping that I can catch a few of you to review some of the things that you used last year to put into this coming year's Review Agenda.

Shared Recipe

Shared by Melissa Bull from Iowa

I've recently begun juicing.  One thing I found is that it is easy to get discouraged when you try different combinations and they are a big time "flop", especially in the beginning when your taste buds are not adjusted to many of the flavors.  The recipe I am sharing today is one that both my husband and I liked from the start.

This is a mild sweet juice. If you add the spinach, this may be a murky brownish color, without it the color is orange.  The ginger root gives it a little "kick", as my husband put it.   If you aren't used to ginger root, I suggest a very small piece like a half inch by half inch can always add more.  Ginger can be quite strong.  If you are sharing with your kids, you may want to eliminate the ginger root until they are used to that flavor.

Carrot Apple Ginger Juice

Serves 1

3 Carrots
2 Apples
A handful of Spinach
1/2 to 1 inch of ginger root

Depending on your juicer, you may want to peel and core your apples, however some can juice around those just fine.  I do suggest pushing the greens through and following with the carrots or apples.
