We share what we have because of our love for God

I John 3:17-18
'But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?  My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue but in deed and in truth'

Galatians 6:9-10
'And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.  As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.'

Hurricane Mathew's Aftermath from Dr Sam Martin

October 10th, 2016
Hurricane Matthew destroyed the agriculture which left people with no source of food.  The road to the nearest City has been washed out in many sections.  Communication is very difficult and therefore reports are slow in reaching us.  However, we prayerfully share the following update:

Last week we sent funds from our General fund in response to the cry for food!  It was an answer to prayer that we were able to get a truck load to Cap Rouge where it was sorted, packed and given to the people.  In a conversation with our Director Wilson on Friday, he shared there were so many people that ran out of food and the doors of our Chapel  Community Centre had to be closed !  This was heart-breaking.

This morning we received the following report from Wilson:

'As you can see from the pictures I sent, the situation is really difficult for people living in many places in Haiti.  Here in Cap-Rouge, all the agricultre has been devastated by Hurricane Matthew, and although we do not believe any lives have been lost, the people are experiencing real difficulties.  I can tell you the sending of food was a real blessing and answer to prayer ! People are coming form all around to get food.  I hate to share this, but I have to be honest, in the evening, I had to hide because too many people were around the clinic begging for food and I had nothing left to give.  Even now, people are looking for me day and night.  I can tell you there are other places where people will die because they are not getting any assistance.  There is urgent need now.  I would like to begin to thank you for providing food for many, many families in Cap Rouge.  Dr. Martin, you have a special palce in the heart of the people in Cap-Rouge.  A million thanks !!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your prayers and help, God willing we will have another truck load of food sent up to Cap Rouge this week ! Keep on praying !!

Blessings and thanks for your gifts,

November 1, 2016

As we continue to distribute food, offer medical help we will begin a new 'help ministry' this week "Seed Distribution'.  Families will receive seeds this week so they can plant new crops and soon have a food source !  God willing as funds come in, this will continue in the days ahead as will the Food Distribution we will have another truck load of food sent.  Director Wilson reports:

"Good Evening and special greetings from Cap-Rouge.  I am very happy to inform you that we had a great food distribution but it was a very difficult job because people are coming from everywhere to our base.  We saw people as never before requesting food, medical and spiritual help.  Our Auditorium was packed, with many standing on the outside.  We did a large distribution, many, many people were blessed with rice, sugar, cooking oil and spaghetti.  At the same time, medical needs were addressed.  I really want to thank the Mission and everyone who has contributed to this special food distribution.  I want to thank you for giving the possibility of hundreds of families to eat in this difficult moment.  I want you to know you have done something great for Cap-Rouge and for Haiti.  We are planning to do the 'seed distribution' on November 2nd.  many people will be attending this distribution.  Again, let me thank you all for your generosity.  God bless you all !!! Cap-Rouge loves you all.  You are very special people".

Impact of My Mission Trip to Guatemala

Growing up I was raised as a Christian.  We went to church as we could, I went to private school, we would talk openly about God when we wanted, but of course, I was never really pushed to really accept or know God for myself.  At about 16 when I was able to drive, I started attending church every Sunday.  I would go by myself most times, but other times with my sister or a friend.  I spoke after school with my Christian humanities professor and he would give me insight and books to read.  I learned so much I can thank him for.

As I moved onto college I sort of lost my way for a while, not that I was lost per say but I wasn't attending church regularly.  I was attending bible studies as I could but was not journaling or reading my Bible regularly.  I have gotten much better over the last few months, but really this trip opened my eyes.  As my past mission trips, it really has humbled me to remember what I have and the opportunities I should take advantage of.  God has provided so much for me, and yet the people of Guatemala are more grateful and happy than I ever am.  They are grateful for the smallest things.  Even their church worship was so beautiful and genuine to hear and see, and to be able to feel the way they always do.  I am so thankful for the generosity and love they showed not only myself but our entire team.  It reminded me to submerge myself in God's Word on my return to the U.S. and to show people the love and care that Jesus has for us.  Everyone deserves hope and a supportive team, no one deserves the inhumane horrific stuff we saw while at the 'Dump'.  I will continue to pray for the people of Guatemala, the staff at AoJ and the staff at Believe Guatemala that we met at the "Dump".

I hope I am able to go participate in another mission trip and serve, whether in Guatemala or in whatever other country God may call me to go.

I am so appreciative of the staff of Zoya Ministries and the love everyone shared.

What a great trip
