What do Stephen King and me have in common?

THIS WEEK MARKED a pretty big milestone for me. A new original story of mine called "Voyeur" (written early this spring) appears in a new anthology -- Qualia Nous -- which also includes stories by William F. Nolan (author of many Twilight Zone scripts as well as Logan's Run) and ... Stephen King!

I've published a lot of stories in lots of books and magazines over the past 20 years, but this is the first time I've ever shared pages with King. Needless to say, I was pretty excited when I learned that he had joined the project a few weeks ago.

The anthology was edited by Michael Bailey and just came out over the weekend from Written Backwards Press. You can read a bit about the book on the Written Backwards site here.

Here's the description on
A literary blend of science fiction and horror, Qualia Nous contains short stories, novelettes, and poetry from established authors and newcomers from around the world. Featuring the imaginations of Stephen King, Gene O'Neill, William F. Nolan, John Everson, Lucy A. Snyder, Thomas F. Monteleone, Elizabeth Massie, Gary A. Braunbeck, and many others.

The Family Tree debuts at Horrorhound!

MY 8TH NOVEL, The Family Tree, is a featured October release from Samhain Publishing... but sneak peek copies of the novel will be available this weekend at the Samhain Publishing Booth at HorrorHound in Indianapolis!

You can also pre-order copies now on Amazon  Barnes & Noble and Samhain.

I went to HorrorHound last year to debut Violet Eyes (can't believe it's been a year already!), and had a great time with the Samhain gang (see my blog with pix from last year here). So I'm really looking forward to repeating the experience again this year.

I'll be at the Samhain booth this Friday - Sunday signing copies of The Family Tree, as well as Violet Eyes and NightWhere... so if you're in the Illinois-Indiana corridor, come on out for a great horror fest!

Signing with me at the Samhain table will be my labelmates Adam Cesare, Tim Waggoner, Jonathan Janz, David Searls and Mick Ridgewell. Stop by and get signed copies of some great books from the Samhain line... The con will be jam-packed with horror memorabilia, posters, movies, books... and you can meet movie stars from Halloween, Lost Boys, Walking Dead, etc... and don't miss the amazing Hall of Masks! You can read the whole list of guests and events at:

More to come...
Summer vacation is over!

John Everson with Linnea QuigleyI DID NOT REALIZE how long it's been since I put out a newsletter until I went to quickly get the word out about these two big announcements tonight. The last one was in... March?!

The silence is not because nothing has been going on... just the opposite. I've got lots of things to tell you about my "summer vacation" ... so I promise I'll write more soon. In the meantime, here's a fun picture from last weekend -- I met '80s Scream Queen Linnea Quigley at a Drive-In Theater showing of Return of the Living Dead!

That's it for now...I hope to see you this weekend at HorrorHound, and I hope you'll give The Family Tree and Qualia Nous a peek!

Yours in Dark Arts,
