FIFTH ANNUAL GREEN CARPET GALA
Join us on Chicago's 'Magnificent Mile'

Imagine savoring Indian fritters and chatting with friends, activists, and artists, while looking through large glass windows at the shimmering lights of Michigan Avenue. We invite you to celebrate in this style at the Green Carpet Gala, the opening event for the One Earth Film Festival. Join us on Friday March 4, 6:30 pm (arrive at 5:30 to experience the Nissan Electric LEAF!) at Fourth Presbyterian Church’s Gratz Center, 126 E. Chestnut St. in downtown Chicago.

We will join with creative leaders from the sustainability and filmmaking communities for mingling, a look back at past accomplishments and at what the One Earth Film Festival 2016 weekend will hold.

MEET CHEF RAMONA BAPTISTE

Chef wants to bring lots of flavor and more vegetables to the table

Ramona Baptiste grew up detesting the foods that her dad frowned on as a child himself: beans, oatmeal and okra. Part of a large Southern family, her dad ate those staples too much for his liking. Ramona, who grew up in Chicago, had an altogether different kind of childhood diet. Her mom cooked a lot of steak, she recalls.

“I used to complain. ‘Steak again?’” she says, laughing. Today, Ramona, 56, is a chef and nutrition specialist, and her focus is on healthy, nutritious cooking. She mixes her family’s cooking traditions with flavorful options that suit not only her palette but also address the needs of her community, which she feels could be better educated about food choices. Ramona will be speaking at the Official Screening Event of "PlantPure Nation."

VOLUNTEER WITH ONE EARTH

Volunteer for film events before and during festival weekend

Want to get involved in Chicago’s ‘Green Scene’ and meet like-minded people? Volunteer with the One Earth Film Fest!

We need more than 200 volunteers to play a variety of roles to make our Fifth Annual Festival a huge success! This year, the Festival is offering over 40 film events in 35+ locations throughout Chicagoland and neighboring suburbs.

Screening highly anticipated environmental films, One Earth Film Fest is a weekend you'll want to join! Consider giving a few hours of your time the weekend of the Festival, March 4-6, or during our pre-event screenings in February. Our next event is the screening of anticipated film "Landfill Harmonic" on February 23rd at Loyola University! Help support One Earth's mission and be a part of something BIG!

Sign-up today to volunteer with One Earth!
