An E-card design contest was organized among the Green IT classrooms to celebrate Chinese New Year.
A total of 6 schools and 26 students participated. The winner of the contest is 12-year-old Zhang Xiaoya, a student of Xinhua Primary School that is sponsored by PerkinElmer.
2016, improving our impact through courseware development:
Whereas before we were relying on existing educational software, in January the Nestpring team completed the first batch of homemade ready to use IT courseware (including tutorials for teachers and presentation slides for students). They cover word processor, database, slide presentation and drawing software. This will help provide better support to the IT teachers, as IT class is still not a mandatory school subject yet. It will also enable Netspring to better assess the computer literacy level of the students and their progression. A set of test will be developed together with the courseware in order to produce reliable metrics in which to measure student progress.
Presentation at CEIBS Jan.21st
Netspring is proud of having presented together with MSC consulting on the first sustainable business session organized by CEIBS. These sessions are held after classes and aim to make students more familiar with the NGO and Social Enterprise business models. Despite the cold weather, numerous students gathered in the room for the session. At the end of the presentation they came up with several business oriented questions such “What is your development plan for the next few years?” as well as some useful suggestions.
“ WE RECYCLE YOUR OLD COMPUTERS INTO EDUCATION  TOOLS ”
This date marks the 4th occasion that AmCham has supported Netspring in organizing the collection of obsolete computers and e-devices from their members. A total of 15 companies participated, and 113 computers were collected among which 95 can be refurbished and used in the Green IT classroom programme.
Since 2013  1348 computers have been collected from those donation drives to benefit to close to 13,700 students all over China. For devices not re-usable a total 3.6 tons have been dismantled in a non polluting way.
