October was the month of the re-visit for Netspring.
Thanks to the continuous support of our clients, our team was able to organize revisit and maintenance operations. This October, our team went to visit Jacqueline, Hogan Lovells, Bayer, PerkinElmer Green IT classrooms around Shanghai and Jiashan, Faurecia 's in Hubei. After 1 year running already, we could notice that computers really brought something to students; that much that school decided to open the IT classroom after regular class time! Teacher MeiXiangHuan(梅向环) made himself available to supervise those evening classes and give more opportunities for kids to practice their IT skills and discover the world though internet.
During revisit in this June, we find the school have lots of big outdated and malfunctional CRT screens. To help the kids to have better multi-media class and also prevent school from mis-disposal of the e-waste, we discussed with school and provided refurbished LCD to replace 7 CRTs, which were brought back to eco-dismantling in Shanghai in this Oct..
Also new Math, Mandarin and English software were installed on the computers to support interactive teaching. We will track student progress during next visit. All the 4 schools we revisited are located in Taicang.
- Bayer China, PerkinElmer and Jacqueline’s Green IT Classrooms run quite well, only 3 key boards were broken in PerkinElmer’s and replaced immediately.
- Hogan Lovells’ several computers don’t function well, we will arrange engineer to do on site repair and provide 10 more new refurbished computers for backup. Considering  the Green IT Classroom has been used for 2 years, we will enhance communicate with the school.
The first Green IT Classroom in Africa!
In this summer, Netspring helped one youth program of China House (中南屋) to setup the first Green IT Classroom in Kenya, Africa. And we got the encouraging feedback recently.
Miss Earth China donation drive
The Miss Earth China beauty pageant was launched in 2002 to actively promote the preservation of the environment in China and partnered with Netspring in 2014. We were presented at the coronation ceremony to help collect obsolete electronic devices from spectators. It enabled us to raise public awareness on environmental issues linked to E-waste disposal, and we hope to have a more fruitful drive next year!
