ON A MISSION: An Update for YWCA Supporters

A look back at our 110th year 


This summer we celebrated our 110th anniversary, making 2017 a banner year for us! We've been working alongside you, our much-appreciated supporters and volunteers, to eliminate racism and empower women in the Charleston region for a century and a decade. 

We thought it would be nice to take a stroll down Memory Lane and remember what we did together this year...

JANUARY

We started the year off right with our 45th Annual MLK Celebration 

FEBRUARY

We celebrated our first Racial Equity Institute training - the first of its kind in Charleston

MARCH

We introduced the empowering Own the Room public speaking workshop for women
 
APRIL

We took a Stand Against Racism with an event headlined by powerful women of color

MAY

Members of our first Girls Who Code club appeared on CBS WCSC's Bounce TV

JUNE

We announced our incoming board of directors - an incredible group of women

JULY

We held our first Indaba Series event, empowering women of color to break into politics

AUGUST

We empowered young women to take their careers higher by finding a mentor

SEPTEMBER

We officially celebrated our 110th anniversary!

OCTOBER

We held a candlelight vigil to spotlight domestic violence for the Week Without Violence

NOVEMBER

We launched our second Girls Who Code club to financially empower tri-county girls

DECEMBER

We revealed the theme for our 2018 MLK Celebration


We have much more in store for 2018 and look forward to working further with you to eliminate racism and empower women in the Charleston area! We could not do it without you - every single one of our members, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters is precious to us. If you'd like to get more involved, we'd love to have you!
