We're Getting Ready for Cold Weather!

It's that time of year once again- the leaves are starting to fall and students are back to school. It's a reminder that the cold weather is not too far off... We encourage you to test your furnaces early and start putting plastic on those windows to save money on heating bills. Don't hesitate to contact our office for a referral to a weatherization program that fits your needs.

Our staff has had quite the busy summer here at our office.  New applications are being processed for our Home Repair Assistance Program, as we close out construction on those who had home improvement assistance through our program over the summer. Our Buffalo Main Streets Initiative Program for building upgrades and improvements on lower Niagara Street has begun accepting applications for funding. Construction has started on the Mt Aaron Manor Apartments, a multi unit affordable housing development we're partnering to develop. And a new staff member joined our office through the AmeriCorps VISTA Program, adding more capacity to our outreach efforts in the community. You can read all about these updates and more in our quarterly newsletter below!

This will be our last newsletter of 2015. Our Winter Newsletter will reach your inbox in Jaunary 2016. Until then, stay up to date on what's happening in our office by following us Facebook and Twitter!

We hope you enjoy the beautiful Fall weather and take advantage of visiting the many parks in our community, like LaSalle, Prospect, and Front Park, as the colorful leaves start to fall!

Sincerely,

Stephanie Simeon, Executive Director

DID YOU KNOW? A TENANT/LANDLORD FACT

Did you know that according to New York State's Tenant Rights, landlords of multiple dwellings must install approved smoke detectors in each apartment, within ten feet of each room used for sleeping.  The smoke detectors should be clearly audible in each of those rooms. Tenants should test their detectors frequently to make sure they work properly.
