SUMMER IS FINALLY HERE!

We at Heart of the City Neighborhoods love summer in the Lower West Side. There's so much to do in our community this time of year. From the Caribana Festival to the Puerto Rican & Hispanic Day Parade, from the Garden Walk to relaxing at the Centennial Pool in LaSalle Park- there's something for everyone in our great neighborhood.

Of course, our favorite summer activity is ensuring quality, affordable housing for all. One way we support these efforts each summer is by playing a game of kickball. That's right- kickball! We hope you will join in supporting affordable housing at our 5th Annual Kickball Tournament at LaSalle Park on Saturday, August 2nd. You can sign up your organization or company to compete as a team, sponsor our event and mission, or simply stop by to join us for hot dogs and a day in the park.

We hope everyone has a fun and safe summer and takes advantage of the resources in our community.

We hope to see you on August 2nd!

Sincerely,

Stephanie Simeon, Executive Director

CONSTRUCTION COMPLETE AT 178 WHITNEY PLACE

HOCN has officially completed our latest rehab, 178 Whitney Place. This single family home is now being sold to a first-time homebuyer under our H.O.P.E. Program. This is the last of four properties on Whitney Place HOCN had acquired to restore as part of our Whitney Place Properties Initiative. None of the above would have been possible without the public financing from NYS Affordable Housing Corp. and the NYS Office of Community Renewal, and private capital financing from First Niagara Bank and the John R. Oishei Foundation. Check out photos of the completed renovation here.

DO YOU HAVE LOWER WEST SIDE LOVE?

What better way to show it then by sporting a Lower West Side T Shirt! HOCN is currently selling an amazing Lower West Side T Shirt, thanks to You and Who and Nickel City Graphics, for just $22 with all proceeds benefiting our great neighborhood. Grab your size before they're gone! Download your order form and learn more here.
