Co-Chair Column: Meet Brian Leubitz
Alice Board, Co-Chair
I'm very happy to be writing my first co-chair's column in the Alice Newsletter. I've been involved in the club for the better part of a decade, including serving on the communications and finance committees. I'm thrilled to be serving as co-chair with Zoe Dunning this year.
Alice has been my political home in San Francisco. The club offers the chance to discuss the issues facing the City in a relaxed setting, even when we don't always agree on every issue. I've met many of my friends through Alice. I've walked many a precinct (how come I always get the ones with hills??) and stood outside Cafe Flore with an ironing board more than once. Alice is special not only because it is way to get involved in our community, but also because of the relationships that are built in the club.
2014 was a smashing success. We had a number of big successes for our endorsed candidates, our field program reached thousands of voters, and our slate, billboards, and ads reached thousands more. Of course, Ron Flynn did an amazing job in his second year as co-chair, and I know it will be difficult to follow in his footsteps.
We won't slow down in 2015, though. Our breakfast plans are already coming together. We are expecting several hundred of our closest friends to join us early on Pride morning to celebrate. We have a big local election this year, and will once again work to get out the vote throughout the City.
I hope you will join us. Our monthly programs are sure to be exciting, stop by the LGBT center on the second Monday of the month and you'll find us chatting about some pressing issue facing our community. Or join the field team for a community mobilization. We'll keep you updated about the latest events via these emails and our website, or just follow our Facebook and twitter pages for the latest updates.
I look forward to seeing you at an Alice event soon.
