The latest news from CCI.

This month with the help of the Clyde Valley Orchard Group we are planting our very own orchard at Langloch Farm with 25 local apple and plum trees.

It is an exciting time as work begins on the Outdoor Learning Area at Langloch. The log cabin is looking great and we can’t wait to see the whole area being accessed by community groups, schools and our participants. Thanks again to our funders The Wolfson Foundation, The Levenseat Trust and Central Scotland Green Network Trust.
The 12 week Branching Out began in a blaze of sunshine which really helped it get off to a great start. The first session included basic fire lighting, tarp erecting, an orchard walk and outdoor cooking. The programme is now full so can no longer accept referrals.

With the help of our volunteers we have erected a real life size willow pit pony and miner in the grounds of Cleland Hospital!

At Castlebank Park we have helped to prepare the site for the new William Wallace Monument.

At John Young School, Livingston we have delivered a community growing session.
The polytunnel is greening up nicely and we have harvested our first polytunnel crop of the year – pak choi!

Into May already this year and our landscaping teams have been swamped with work!
With the completion of projects at Cleland Hospital, Beckford Lodge, Udston Hospital, Froglife and Rigside Nursery it has been a very tough month for all ,but true determination and commitment from all staff has shone through and we are clearing our feet and moving forward. Thanks to all the team for their hard work.

May sees the second phase of Southside Housing Association works beginning at Mossheight Flats at Cardonald followed quickly by some planting works for our little friends at Rigside Nursery.

John Coghill has now joined  CCI Scotland as a Landscape Apprentice, so a big welcome to John and keep up the impressive start. Thanks must go to Joss and the team at CCI for making this step possible for John.

Amanda and Dougie presented at the recent Meet the Buyer/TSO event held at Langloch, pitching to big names in the construction industry and
showcasing the great work we do. Feedback has been very exciting and we hope to be involved in some of their contracts in the very near future.

Quote of the Month: “Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean.”
