Quote: “Scotland's best-selling female singer in terms of the numbers of hit chart singles and albums she has achieved in the UK since 1976”.  The Scotsman

In this special acoustic performance Barbara Dickson and her pianist Nick Holland explore her catalogue of songs at an intimate level. The pair let the words and melodies take ‘centre stage’ as they perform a wonderful range of material drawing on Barbara’s folk roots, contemporary greats, and some of her classic hits. In this, she plays guitar and piano, and Nick on keyboards and adds harmonies to Barbara’s own wonderful vocals.
“It’s a different experience to working with the bigger band” says Barbara, “but just as enjoyable and gives the music breathing space”

“Melodically sublime… although Ghedi’s music is infused with tradition, it’s very much experiencing the present” -
MOJO ★★★★☆

Jim Ghedi hails from the South Yorkshire hills and although clearly well versed in the history of British folk music, he stands out as a potential torch bearer for a new generation of respectful yet experimental performers. His latest release 'I Am a Youth That’s Inclined To Ramble’ a collaboration with Cinder Well in early 2022 was played by Mark Radcliffe on BBC Radio 2 and by Cerys Matthews on BBC 6 Music, this joins previous plays from Gideon Coe, Verity Sharp and Elizabeth Alker. He has recently seen a volume of his poems & songs ’Spring of Yarrow’ published through Ration Books.

“Ford writes with genuine depth and striking authority.” Rolling Stone

David Ford and Annie Dressner began their musical alliance in early 2022. But listening to the blend of their voices and their timeless songwriting, you’d be forgiven for thinking they had been making music together forever. In truth Annie and David became friends in January, while playing on the same bill at a couple of gigs in the freezing North of England. Initially sitting in for a song or two in each other’s set, these brief moments of collaboration became a highlight of the show. Two weeks later, they had written and recorded their debut release, naming it 48 hours in honour of the two-day burst of creativity during which most of the material was written.

"It is easy to compare Terry’s heritage and storytelling to that of Jackson Browne, James Taylor or Bruce Springsteen. A symphonic delight for the heart and soul." - Americana UK 9/10

Whatever magic potion the troubadours in Laurel Canyon were sipping on in 1971, Jesse Terry has managed to track it down and take a deep gulp.
Now on his seventh album, When We Wander, Terry performs his beautifully crafted songs to around 150 audiences a year and (in the words of Music News Nashville)
"bring[s] to mind iconic artist/poets like Paul Simon and Jackson Browne.... [with] a performance that touches the heart like only a whisper can."

“Spellbinding; passionate, humorous and open – the sound of a singer who could take on the world.”– On-Magazine.

With their full band The Bluetones taking a 2022 hiatus from live performances, singer Mark Morriss and his Bluetones partner in crime, Adam Devlin, are taking their ‘Bluetones Acoustic’ set out on the road later this year for a Winter run of dates. A 90 minute run through of Bluetones classics such as ‘Slight Return’, the tour will be the one and only chance for fans to let their hair down to the Bluetones back catalogue live this year, and will no doubt be a popular ticket. A prolific live performer, Mark is also available for solo bookings as well.

“A treasurable meeting of minds, music and cultural roots, this collaboration between premier league fiddlers lays on a four-course feast of choice Celtic delicacies.”  ~ The Scotsman

Heralded “three of the finest folk violinists anywhere” by The Washington Post, Celtic Fiddle Festival celebrates the violin in all its globe-trotting variations. Fiddlers Kevin Burke (Ireland), Christian Lemaître (Brittany, France) and Capercaillie’s own Charlie McKerron (Scotland) showcase a fascinating juxtaposition of international and individual styles.
Sold-out tours and standing ovations give testimony to the electricity and excitement generated by the group. Along with acclaimed guitarist Nicolas Quemener from Brittany, the quartet combines their talents, musical traditions, and spontaneous humour for an evening of dazzling energy and subtle grace. These traditional masters showcase their regional repertoires and together conjure an experience of breathtaking performances.

"We’re extremely proud to welcome German-based Irish twins The Ocelots as a new signing to the Strada roster. They will be supporting The Chapin Sisters on their UK tour this July and performing at The Cambridge Folk Festival at the end of the month. They are also taking UK bookings for May 2023"

"25 year old twins Brandon and Ashley Watson are The Ocelots. Formerly based in Ireland, now in Leipzig, Germany, the brothers have crafted their songwriting and musical experience together to produce a forceful blend of rich harmonies and bare, raw acoustic folk. Their music perfectly embodies the breezy effortlessness of early Bob Dylan, and Simon & Garfunkel and has earned them 1.7 Million listens on Spotify as well as revered supports with Jack Johnson, Flogging Molly and Felix Rebil. The Ocelots live set combines all that is great about folk music, so come and be charmed by the charismatic duo. Their new EP ‘Addlepated’ is out August 2022"

“Best live band I have seen all summer”  Gideon Coe

Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip made a triumphant return to the fields of the Glastonbury Festival last month, playing 8 well attended shows, including their biggest Glastonbury show to date on the Astrolabe Stage in the Theatre & Circus area of the festival. Worthy FM invited the band up for a live interview and to play a few acoustic songs, and they even had the luxury of declining a set at the legendary Underground Piano Bar venue which is dug into the hillside every year, has no electricity, and it’s location is a closely kept secret. Introduced by compare’s as ‘… Glastonbury wouldn’t be Glastonbury without Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip’ we fully expect same time, same place next year.

SautiKano unveils first ever single Nera!
Click image for link to song
SautiKano, UK based Afro-Folk band, are thrilled to announce their first single ‘Nera’ was released Friday 8th July.

Their first single – ‘NERA’ (translation: Uncle) tells the poignant story of growing up in Northern Uganda, with uncaring distant relatives and wishing you could have the love and security of Mum and Dad.

This is a tale of displacement, resilience, survival, tragedy and the healing power of music...
